The gestation (pregnancy) period for pigs is just four monthsand sows can furrow up to two times a year This means thatone sow which costs about $400 can produce up to 16 ndash 36piglets in a single year These piglets which reach a market sizeof 70 kg in six to seven months can sell for up to $300 each
No other farm animals except chickens rabbits and ostrichescan multiply this fast
