The Prohibition Era The prohibition era was when manufacturing, distribution, sales, and
consumption of alcoholic beverages was prohibited in the united
states. The 18th amendment was repealed under president Franklin
D. Roosevelt's administration. during the great depression it it was
widely seen as a failure in this country. The prohibition supporters
were called the drys and the anti-prohibition were called the wets.
Economist Irving Fisher was a yale professor and he was a dry. he
wrote about prohibition during the prohibition era. His paper “The
Economics of Prohibition”, he makes case for economic effects of
prohibition.
Bootlegger: person who illegally manufactures distributes or sells
alcohol
speakeasy: 1920’s location where alcohol was illegally sold.
18th amendment: prohibition of alcoholic beverages.
21st amendment: repealed the 18th amendment.
Editorial: Dawes Plan
I think Charles Dawes made a good decision and made
the Dawes Plan. Great Britain and France owe us a lot
of money but I don’t think they would be able to pay
them so they can pay us. We will give money to
Germany to pay them so they can give our money back
so Germany doesn’t fall. We need them to stay and not
let their empire break down. We will get all of our
money back and let Germany owe us. France and
Britain gave them a hard time so it’s good that they
owe us now. We will not kill them but they better give
us our money back later. If they don’t we need to do
something.
Another reason why I support the Dawes Plan is
because if Germany were to lose its stability as a
country, it could turn around and bite us in the end.
Because later on Germany may discover an item(s) that
we may actually need in the U.S., but if we were to let
them fall as a country we won’t be able to get the
item(s). So really helping Germany now to pay off all of
the debts they owe from WWI, it’ll help get Germany to
recover from everything during WWI.

The new era of America
Morgan Statlin, New York, New York
I think the city is a better place
for African American because the
people in the south are very racist. One
reason why it is the Great Migration
was when 16 million African
American moved Laws that were past
between 1876 to 1965. From the
Southern United states to the Northern,
Midwest,and Western that lasted from
1910 to 1970. And another reason was
the Demographic Changes: Important
Demographic trend took place at the
workforce for usually 10-15 years. The
first one was from 1920s to 1930s.
And Jim Crow Laws that were racial
segregation.

Traditional America
Alfred McKay, Council Bluffs,
Iowa
The way women are acting
these days is completely
unexcusable. Women should be
at the home cleaning and
cooking instead of going to
those nightclubs in the big
cities. When I was younger the
women in my family would be
staying at the home, and doing
the work around the house. Now
that the younger generation is
changing, its hurting the
traditional American way that I
grew up with.
~Christopher
DrysWhat has become of the world?
Robert William, Nebraska
What has become of our generation? In my days women weren't even allowed to drink. Now
a days women are smoking, drinking, and I don't think their dresses could get any shorter.
We need to improve our society. Because, alcoholism causes crime, violence, and breakups
of families. All of the women who don’t support prohibition have become dumb dora. For
everyone who supports prohibition God bless every each and one of y’all. And y’all know
that you’ll be going to HEAVEN.And for all y’all anti-prohibitionist y’all know where y’all
ending up and I for sure will tell you that its going to to be BURNING HOT “It won't be
pretty.” But if y’all change your ways now and support prohibition God will be on your side.
Because God is all about forgiving and you will be happy and God will lead you to heaven. I
believe that drinking is associated with foreigners. Beer drinking is associated with German
immigrants and wine drinking with Italian immigrants. I’m Robert William and I believe
prohibition is the RIGHT way to go. -Leah Joselson.
Wets“We just want to have a good time and let loose.”
Prohibition the experiment that failed: on January, 1920 the eighteenth amendment
states that liquor, beer, and wine were banned however it didn't work. A careful scientist has
called alcohol , the indispensable vehicle of business of the white slave traders, without it
trade would not happen. Many wanted alcohol allowed and it wasn't doing any harm to us
until after banning alcohol thats when all harm broke out, if I drink it dosen’t mean i’m going
to hell I believe in God and I worship him everyday, drinking doesn't mean god doesn't love
me like everyone else. U.S. men work everyday and we just want to have fun and let loose
once in a while. I have never put my family in harm before I know when I have had enough
to drink your blaming the ones who haven’t done nothing wrong. Therefore alcohol isn't all
that bad and we should allow it we just want to have fun.

ReligionReligious Toleration Act
Thomas Bob, Dayton,
Tennessee
No Christians will be bothered
doing or practicing their
religion. Jews, however, don’t
count though. They suffer
prejudice and will not hold on
office position. Also, neither
will they be able to vote.
I can’t believe that people would
want to be Christian or Jewish.
It is stupid and nobody likes
them.
~Jordan Bailey
Atheism
Bob Thomas, Toledo, Ohio
Charles Darwin’s theory of
evolution makes a lot more
sense than humans just
randomly appearing on the
Earth. The Butler Act is
basically restricting us teachers
from doing our job! I say we
repeal the act and teach students
how humans really came to be.
Those folks over in Dayton,
Tennessee are making a big deal
out of something so trivial. I
heard they’re making a whole
lot of monkey toys. They even
have some weird ‘monkey fizz’
soda! Anas Sidahmed

World Affairs in 1920s
In the 1920s world affairs was not allowed and there was many
policies that were made known as the
*Isolationism
*Disarmament
*Kellogg-Briand Pact
*Dawes plan
*Washington Naval Conference
All of these policies say not to take part of alliances and relations
with others countries. This helps prevent any war with others
countries.
Isolationism was a very big part in world affairs this was a
government policy of not taking part of any economic and political
alliances or relations with other countries. George Washington also
took a part in Isolationism.
All of these tie up to stop war and betraying other counties.

Ku Klux Klan Society
The KKK or the Ku Klux Klan is a threat to many Americans,
harming their way of life.
The Klan was a group that had got its roots from a similar group that
had formed during the American Civil War. KKK had reigned power
over all of the 48 states at the time. The amount of power that the
Klan had was severely inflicting damage and mental stability onto
African Americans at the time.
African Americans were the main target of KKK at the
time, as well as some other groups. KKK did a good job of
terrorizing African Americans by burning churches of the black
population. As well as murdering, rapeing, and castarating African
Americans. White people also had a reason to fear the Klan, if a
white person were to have contacts with an African American,Klan
members would do what they did to African Americans too white
people.
KKKs was established to bring fear to African Americans. The Klans
beliefs were to have:
● White Supremacy
● Anti-Semitism (Hatred of Jews)
● Memorialization of the original Klan
● Anti-Catholicism
The Klan also felt very strongly about a good education, which is
why the Klan attempted to open a Klan college.

started wearing dresses that were tighter also called silhouette and cut their
hair shorter. Comfortable knitted fabrics bright, more colors. Economically

During the roaring twenties it became more acceptable for women to
drink and smoke in public. Women who rebelled against expectation and
changed fashion and attitudes were known as the Flappers. French speakers
called the roaring twenties “The crazy years,” Hats , shoes, stocking,
handbags, dresses, and jewelry all came together. It was a dramatic change.
that some of the older generations didn’t like. Dresses were lighter, used less
materials, and new synthetic fabrics. They were brighter and shorter than they
had ever been before.
Correspondence schools flourished people wanted to educate themselves
and create a better future for themselves and their families. Dressmaking
millinery courses embraced by women who wanted the new fashions but
couldn’t afford retail prices. Women’s underwear changed too, they became
smaller and more flexible and modern style, bras were being introduced. The
new bras provided shape and support women also started wearing more

American PoliticsPresident Harding repealed taxes raised by Wilson
and supported a free enterprise system. Harding
filled government positions with friends from Ohio,
known as the Ohio Gang. Vice President Coolidge
pushed for reduction in inheritance taxes (taxes on
assets received from people who have died).
Albert Fall (a member of the Ohio Gang) gained
control over national oil reserves in Elk Hills,
California and Teapot Dome, Wyoming. Fall leased
the oil to two companies that paid him over
$360,000 in bribes, costing America a lot of oil.
Citizens come together to demand conservative
politics, less government interference in their daily
lives, a return to Christian values, an end to labor
problems, and an end to racial strife. Herbert
Hoover wins the election of 1928 by a wide margin
on pledges to continue the economic boom from
Coolidge’s term.
Al Smith (Hoover’s democratic opponent) lost a lot
of votes because of his opposition to Prohibition.
Many African Americans supported Hoover
because he supported integration, which would help
calm racial issues. Due to their support, Hoover
gained many votes.~Anas Sidahmed
