Message from the Padre
Jesus continues to use parables to change our ways to God’s ways. This weekend He draws on the symbol of a Wedding Feast. Everyone is in-
vited to the celebration, but some of them refused to come.
My dear friends, from time in memorial, people have made flimsy excuses in order to get out of things. From the dawn of time, human beings
have always made-up excuses to get out of doing something that they didn’t
want to do. That was true in the past and is still true today. I would guess that
all of us have fabricated an excuse or two during our lives. But we have to
remember that God invites all of us into a relationship with Christ. This invita-
tion to respond is not a right but a privilege for all of us. That is why we should not take this invitation lightly, as it is a
lifelong commitment. We have to remember that just acknowledging the goodness of God is not sufficient. One also
needs to acknowledge God by preparing ourselves. Christ has said, “For many are called but few are chosen. But what
does Christ mean when he said these words. Does this mean that God chooses a few and rejects the rest? The answer is
NO as “God calls us all to himself.” Remember that we are all children of God and that He is the Father of all, his Son is
the savior of all, and his Spirit is the advocate of all. But God expects us to respond to his invitation with readiness and
preparedness and without any excuses.
And so this weekend, let us ask for God’s grace and “put on" the garment of love, humility and patience... as St. Paul said, “let us put on Christ and clothe ourselves in all that is worthy of the Kingdom that God has prepared for us.”
Fr. Joe

The image of the banquet is an important one in the scriptures.
Most of the time it refers to God’s great generosity and lavish
kindness. In the New Testament, Jesus uses the banquet as an
image of the heavenly kingdom to come. As we listen to these
readings today, what does the image of the banquet say to you?
