Background: Malaria• There are over 500 million cases

of malaria each year. 90% of these cases occur in sub-Saharan Africa.

• Over 1 million people lose their life to malaria each year – the vast majority children under the age of five.

• We lose a child to malaria every 30 seconds; 3,000 children a day.

• Malaria is a preventable, treatable and beatable disease.
