everInquisitive - The Creative Construct - PortfolioJune 2010 – Present
Zionsville, Indiana
MAURICE C JOHNSON III
everInquisitive is a Creative Solutions Organization, an imaginative think tank, one that caters towards the interactive realms.
Since the age of 8, my creative gestures, my imaginative aptitudes have consumed me. Most if not all current hobbies encompass such behavioral aspects; whether it be drawing, oil painting, mixed mediums, reading, and or writing. My imaginative aptitude sometimes stems from the unknown, may be perceived as a genetic disposition, or devised from the inane art of practice.
No formal training or higher education has either been achieved or received; however has been a long term goal. An attempt to rationalize, hypothesize, and or logically categorize is likely fore not. The only true answer, the only honest answer is simple. It is my first love, my first passion, a world I can readily turn to when I do not understand the world about. A realm that is mine to manifest, create, and mold into whatever I deem most appropriate. It provides solace, serenity, and blissful solitude when none can be found. This my dear reader is how this invasive contextual construct applies to my life. My subconscious has awoken my inner-child. To personally roam this mortal coil without, would be fruitless, costly, and mentally taxing.
My Portfolio can be found at the following pages as well as well as within this slideshow. G+ Page FaceBook Page Pinterest

Portfolio
Ponte di Colori–
A beautiful piece. One that represents the last completed painting, for 2016. While painting I envisioned taking a brief stroll through the woods, on a cool Autumn afternoon. Maybe at one of our State Parks, here in Indiana. Only to come upon an old Masonic wonder. One that has stood the test of time. It is a Oil Painting on museum quality, 16x20" canvas.
Backyard #2~
This particular piece is a commissioned
work. It is a 18x24" Oil on Museum Quality Canvas depicting
one's inner serenity, their back yard, in the Autumn
Months. I hope they enjoy it as much as I enjoyed
painting it.
I thought I might take a different
approach and photograph the various
layers applied over the course of time. Hopefully it will depict the number of layers/steps taken to produce the piece and the time-lapse is pretty cool.

Montagna Numero 1 ~
This particular piece has been a work in progress for the last month. I finally got around to putting the final
touches to canvas. It is a meticulous piece filled with various painting styles and
colors Personally it makes me want to travel to Colorado and put a rowboat in the
water and just take a nap. It was fun as hell for me to paint, but hey don't tell anyone. This piece is a 24 x 30 x 0.50" museum quality canvas
Ombrello Rosso –
With storm filled skies, as the rain pounds the pavement, a woman in a red raincoat and umbrella, walks amicably down the street enjoying this beautiful spring day. It is a Oil Painting on museum quality, 16x20" canvas.
Lavanda –
A Tuscan Landscape, one
with beautiful skies, a pleasant
breeze, and a faint lavender filling the air. It’s a piece that represents a celebration of the
senses. It is a Oil Painting on museum quality,
16x20" canvas.
BackYard - A Window View ~
This has been a fun piece to paint and it may look completed; however as I was painting one day, it occurred to me that this
truly is not a window view without a window frame. So I
went out and bought some lumber. Hope to have the frame ripped,
assembled, and stained soon, for
your viewing pleasure. What follows are three pictures. The first depicting the start of the painting; whereas the latter two are the completed painting with different light choices. The piece is an oil on canvas, museum quality, two 10x20" canvases
Name Placard ~
This piece was a request by a fellow colleague at work. She made the request of
her name, an Indiana Pacers Theme, and my imagination. So I went to work. I thought what better way to
commemorate a basketball theme than to paint it on wood. This was a first attempt at oil painting on wood panel, or in this particular case a 1" section of a tree. Oil painting can be time consuming yet I did not quite compensate for how much of that paint would be soaked up by the wood. Needless to say with a little persistence, patience, and the imagination she spoke to I believe I have a finished product for her to enjoy.
A Long Day ~
I started this piece on March 6th, 2016 and completed it today,
April 17th, 2016. Entitled, A Long Day, due to the obvious nature that some days seems like they last for an eternity; whereas others pass with the blink of an eye. My preference of course being the former. This was a fun piece to paint and only took approximately 24 hours to complete. I am definitely getting a little quicker at this. The piece is an oil on canvas, museum quality, 24x30 .
Tattoos ~Recently I have found myself helping
friends with tattoo ideas. They basically provide an idea of what they are looking for and in turn I set to assembling the ideas in Adobe Photoshop; whether it is from an initial sketch either by myself or my friends. Here are a few samples.
The Hallows Harvest ~
This latest piece is a stretched 16x20" Oil on
Museum Quality Canvas. It represents a continued
learning curve and new approach to painting Oil
on Canvas. Filled with new Autumn Colors, it represents the coming Hallows Eve, cool clear nights, crackling camp-fires, and changing of the seasons.
Hydrangeas–
A simple quick glass vase of flowers. This piece is one of many attempts to improve my paint times. There are several yet few I feel that are worth viewing. It is a Acrylic Painting on museum quality, 16x20" canvas.
Forrest Shadow and Sunset–
Additional pieces that are Acrylic Paintings on museum quality, 16x20" canvases, if only to improve paint times.
Willow Tree~
Several years ago, I found myself
inundated with the imaginative realm. As has become the norm, I normally tend to write them down, if only to
preserve the original premise of such creativity. This however required immediate action. I found myself rampantly wandering the aisles of Hobby Lobby, if not only to seek out the required tools and materials, but the process of how to turn this manifestation into the physical. This particular piece represents the first many sculpture projects to come. Future pieces will involve a greater level of detail, complexity, and 3-dimensionality.
Doradus (Tarantula) Nebula ~ Contemporary piece , 2 16x20" museum quality canvases. An impressionistic perspective of the Doradus Nebula( The Tarantula Nebula ). The technique chosen was so ornate that I destroyed countless paint brushes in the process. The sides follow on the next slide.
Autumn at Nuenen~
A third impressionistic attempt, Vincent Van Gogh's, Autumn at Neunen. One that I am fond of. One that my mother also enjoys. I
would have to suggest the most difficult aspect, of this particular piece was not only the blending of the Autumn Colors but the leaves themselves..
San Giorgio Maggiore
at Twilight ~
Aaahhh, San Giorgio Maggiore at Twilight.
An interesting piece. One of many beautiful pieces by Claude Monet. Something I felt worthy of a second painting attempt. The interesting and rather frustrating aspect, about this piece was blending the oils to acquire the appropriate twilight and such reflection off the surrounding body of water. Also, or at least at the time, did not adhere to Monet's original color scheme. .
Starry Night~
A long personal love. The Impressionistic Era. Ever since learning of such, I have always enjoyed the
Impressionistic Founding Fathers; Van Gogh,
Monet, Manet, and Degas. This is the first of many oil paintings. If the viewer looks closely, I did not quite or accurately scale Van Gogh's piece. There is a smaller collection of homes in the lower right-hand corner, that I have always referred to as the "Subdivision-De-Mo" :D. .
The Tetons ~
Another mixed medium. A work that I still take
great pride in to this day. A piece that is
predominately brushed ink, with pencil and pastel. The interesting
aspect about this piece is most if not all of my personal works have been
created on matte board. At first attempt, the first layer
of ink worked beautifully onto the board. Any
layer there-after; however continuously flaked off. After a great level of frustration and with further research I found a solution. Workable Fixit, an are-sol product for architects. After that each additional layer worked beautifully, on top of the other. The piece at one point hung in my grandparents home; however sadly they have both passed. It now hangs in my folks house.
.
Grae Mill~
As the years past, more family members
became intrigued by my imaginative aptitude. This is another family commissioned piece, so to speak. Something my mother requested, either
for her birthday or as a Christmas gift. Once again I do not recall. This is
another mixed medium. Predominately pencil, with ink and pastel. A first and last attempt at Pointillism.
I dreamed about this particular piece for months after completion. My attempts were different, with this particular work, fore the initial hope was to scan the original and deliver prints, to all requesting family members. Needless to suggest the idea did not go over well. I still retain the original, more as a personal learning experience..
The last portrait, albeit best that I have ever accomplished.
A Family Portrait~
A first attempt at a family portrait. A commissioned piece, so to speak. Something my father requested, either for his
birthday or as a Christmas gift, I do not recall now. I do recall that working from a multitude of pictures; fore we did not have a current family picture. I also recall the repeated requests that I make my mother look young and beautiful. At her request of course. This picture still hangs in my fathers den. The actual image is better than what is presented here. There is a reflection from the front door of my folks house..
This represents a first attempt at ink. From Sports Illustrated, Ele McPherson and Kathy Ireland. One of the many graceful models that have been honored by the Sports Illustrated Magazine.
Continuing to hone my portrait arts, I found another Playboy playmate model, one who was absolutely beautiful, one who inspired me to draw. I wish I could remember her name now; however I do recall one particular detail, She and her friend or sister would ride their Harley Davidson's up and down the California Coast-Line. Oooohhh, how I thought how cool that was.
This particular portrait required an ever increasing complexity, mixed mediums. First of many attempts with pencil, pastels, and ink. It also required matters of the heart and that promiscuous emotion, love. Aaahhhh young love.
Most artists enjoy working with models, harnessing their creative skills, if only to become more adept at the imaginative realms. Unfortunately as a child I did not have such avenues or luxury to focus my efforts on portraits. What follows is the first of many portraits attempts. Kimberly Conrad was quite a beautiful woman. Married to Hugh Hefner, it was her I chose as my first of many portraits.
