They spoke of their experiences and answered questions at the end. - The aim was to allow students to see what it might be like working for MSF, and to give an insight into how one might go on to work for MSF. - A large aim was advertising the event to both medical students and non-medical students. By having a midwifery student on the committee we were able to easily target other audiences. Details Number of participants 90 Venue University Campus Required cost £80.00 Total revenue £0.00 Support from MSF-UK, FoMSF National Committee (Speaker Liaison Officer) Preparation - We came up with a title. - Got in touch with the Speaker Liaison to organise speakers and get a date. - Sorted out funding for costs of the event. - Made flyers and posters and advertised in the weeks before. - Lecture shout outs, handing out flyers, emailing departments and setting up the stall in the university. During the event - Speakers arrived early to set up PowerPoint presentations and familiarise themselves with the equipment. - Committee members laid out MSF materials- booklets etc. and refreshments for after the talk. - After the introduction of the speakers, they talked for around one hour, then answered questions from the audience.

- We sent round a clipboard with a member sign up sheet for the society during the talk.

Tips/precautions

- Early organisation is needed as things often take longer than expected and various problems come

up.

- For example we lost our original venue a few weeks before the event which involved some panicked

arrangements!
