2011 WIRED CafÉ

from July 21-23, 2011, WIRED hosted the 3rd annual WIRED Café @ Comic-Con. Throughout the weekend, over 3,000 guests received invitation-only access to WIRED’s full-service Café, which provided a media preview lounge, gadget lab, cuisine, cocktails, and a host of activities and interactive demos from WIRED partners, including HBO, Microsoft, History Channel, MGM Casinos, Budweiser Select, and Pringles.

An all-star cast of celebs stopped by to sample the food, drinks, and gear, including Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Jon Favreau, Rose McGowan, Natasha Henstridge, Olivia Munn, John Landis, Adam West, Billy Dee Williams, Kevin Smith, Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz, and the entire cast of HBO’s True Blood.

All of these celebs were captured by the WIRED.com video crew and featured on WIRED.com. Both Access Hollywood and CNN camped out all day to interview the stars of True Blood.

1 / Café visitors checked out the hottest summer gadgets paired with LACOSTE threads at the Summer Test Gadget Lab.  2 / Guests had the opportunity to cool down and loosen up at the Fangtasia Bar serving True Blood cocktails. 3 / With makeup artists onsite offering free makeovers, visitors could also glam up for the evening with Tarte for True Blood.

1 / History Channel’s Top Gear Gadget Lab was seen and experienced by both VIPs, at the WIRED Café, and San Diego consumers, at the highly trafficked Horton Plaza mall in downtown San Diego.

2 / Celebrities, bloggers, and café visitors were able to track all the happenings at Comic-con via the Acer laptops in the Acer Media Blogger Lounge. 3 / Visitors were invited to create their own Pringles Can by designing a custom label, and printing and wrapping the Pringles Can while at the Café.

1 / At the MGM KÀ photo booth, Café visitors were invited to get into character and take a picture with Cirque du Soleil acrobats. 2 / 901 Tequila was the exclusive tequila featured throughout the WIRED Café. 3 / Attendees were invited to sample Budweiser Beer and Bud Select in addition to interacting with Band of Buds display. Free Bud T-shirts were handed out to guests.

4 / A WIRED.com video crew was onsite at the WIRED Café asking celebrity guests questions crowdsourced by the WIRED and Reddit communities. Each celebrity was featured in a video viewable on WIRED.com courtesy of Bing. 5 / WIRED Café guests were invited to dance in the Gaming Lounge where Ubisoft’s Just Dance 3 was featured. 6 / JackBacks was onsite at the WIRED Café providing complimentary iPhone customization with their signature line of wooden iPhone backs.
