WELCOME

Like so much of Scouting, the success of Gilwell Reunion has been its ability to move with the times, while remaining true to its original values. The first ever Gilwell Reunion was held in 1921. It included a film screening, camp fire and Scouts’ Own service - all of which you will find in this weekend’s programme.

Some elements of the original Reunion programme have been dropped over the years: you will be relieved to learn that the obligatory 7am Kudu horn blowing by the Chief Scout no longer features!

The event continues to be a place where we share experiences and ideas, learn new skills, make acquaintances, both old and new, and generally have a fantastic time.

This year, for the first time, we will be holding our Annual General Meeting on the Training Ground. The weekend will close on Sunday afternoon with the handover of UK Chief Commissioner role to Tim.

As ever, I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible and thanking you personally for making Scouting so successful.

Wayne Bulpitt
