Courses and Degree OptionsStudy world cultures and history while learning to speak another language, regardless of your major. EvCC offers beginning and advanced language classes.

If you choose to be a language major, you will generally need to complete a bachelor’s degree; in some cases a master’s degree is desirable. At EvCC, world language students are encouraged to pursue the Associate in Arts and Sciences DTA degree, which meets state guidelines for smooth transfer to most of Washington’s colleges and universities. This degree allows students to complete most or all of the lower-division general education courses typically required within a bachelor’s degree. Combining studies in business, global studies, humanities, political science, education, history, human services and media will complement your language studies.

Language Placement TestsPlacement tests at the EvCC Testing Center in French, German or Spanish are recommended before enrollment if you have had prior experience with these languages. For placement in all other world language courses above the 121 level, please meet directly with the instructor.
