Evangelism defined
• The English word “evangelism” comes from the Greek word euaggelion. Most literally translated in the noun form, euaggelion means: “gospel” or “good news.” In the verb form (euaggelizesthai), the meaning of the word changes slightly to “announce” or “bring good news.”
• The Greek word in its various forms appears fifty-five times in the New Testament. In addition to the before-mentioned translations, the Greek word is also translated as “preach.”
The need to GO!GO!• Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord,
saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
• This must be our attitude in regards to evangelism!
• Why must this be our attitude?our attitude?
Our Our attitudeattitude• Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in youmind be in you,
which was also in Christ JesusChrist Jesus:
• Matthew 26:39 And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as you will.
The need to GO!• Isaiah 50:4 The Lord GOD has given me the
tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is word in season to him that is weary:weary: he awakens morning by morning, he awakens my ear to hear as the learned.
• Isaiah 50:5 The Lord GOD has opened my ear, and I was not rebelliousI was not rebellious, neither turned backward.
What if we don’t go? Darkness, blindness, Spiritual death!
