Mise en scene introducing the character

In this opening shot we are establishing the time of the video, it’s early in the morning, the character looks like he’s been drinking /partying most of the night note the beer cans and bottles laying around.

As the song is called last night it is implied that he’s singing about bout the events which happened just the night before. It’s conventional for pop songs to have a clear link to the song through the mise en scene and we have done this through the use of beer cans and bottles.

Character full introductionHere we have the full introduction of the character, he is shown here well dressed and looking quite happy. This is conventional to have the main character in quite fashionable clothing and in this chase as the artist is male we have put him in a suit to appeal to female audience but also to represent the artist as a quite wealthy smartly dressed person.

It is also a convention to have quite happy/carefree character in pop videos and we think we where able to show that as this character walks in with a smile of their face and does look sad at all.

Framing

This framing of the artist is done to show him of as a solo artists. It’s conventional to have the artist a prominent thing in the video so you can sell a certain image of the artist through the music video.

As said before we have given our artist a certain representation of quite classy and wealthy and this framing shows it off perfectly as it’s a full body shot sowing him off in full. This scene also sells that artist as it’s broken up into long shots and close ups.

Casual

We decided to use this shot of our artist drinking coffee in a café because we thought that it would represent him as well as being quite classy and wealth he its; that formal and can be casual.

This shot shows this off well because he’s framed in the centre of the shot with the background blurred out making him the focus, this again links back to us trying to sell the artist by having this close up on him being casual.

Dancing also graphic match

This shot is also shining a more casual light on our artist through the dancing. We thought this shot was especially effective as we used a graphic match to cut from our artist singing to our artist dancing.

Lip syncing and performing in time with the video

This scene we where especially happy with how it turned out because we felt the performance really fit with the music and the lip syncing was spot on. We felt that this a good reference to Justin Timberlake which is conventional in the pop genre.

This scene is very similar to a scene from one of Justin Timberlake's songs take back the night where he's ‘dancing’ in familiar ways up against a wall

Final shot

This final shot represents him as dropping his guard which was represented by his suit) and despite him splitting up with presumably a girl he's calling to see if they could get back together.

DigipakFor the digipak we have a clear theme across all the panels and that is ghosts. The name of the album directed us to go with a very mysterious theme for out digi-pak, we used Photoshop to layer multiple pictures of our artist and adjusted the transparency to give the effect of him being a ghost.

We believe that we have produced something quite successful and unique. We also used black and white like our music video to keep a clear link between all products.

Magazine AdvertFor the magazine advert as you can see we kept the black and white from the music video so that if someone see’s one of the products the will easily be able to identify that they are all connected through this similar theme.

The ghosts effect also was used again to also keep the style consistent. Because our artists is a solo artist it’s important to sell him to your audience and I think we where able to achieve this through all the products.
