Question 1

• In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

• Show understanding of conventions – analyse your research and talk about the impact it had on your final product

• Look at how your project fits with the conventions – make sure you give specific examples

• Show how you may have been unconventional and why you did it

• Talk about the narrative theory for thriller films and how you have used it

• How does your media product represent particular social groups?

• Look at social groups shown in your film– Genders, ages, different classes, ethnicities

• Explain why you represent things in particular ways in your film• Talk about the stereotypes that you use and those you challenge• Think about the messages which you want to

give your audience and why you want those messages to be given

• What kind of media institutions might distribute your media product and why?

• Think about the different companies that produce and distribute thriller films

• Think about and decide on which company you want to associate with your film:– Conglomerate, independent, UK based company, US company

• Think about reasons why you might use different companies – advantages and disadvantages

• Who would be the audience for your media product?

• Talk about the target audience for your film, describe fully in detail• Talk about age, interests, how they would use the media (this will be

helpful for your project and distribution)• Explain why you have chosen the target audience which you did• Speak about the research which helped you to

come to your conclusion

• How did you attract/address your audience?• Talk about the audience research which you did

– Surveys, how this helped you to create your film

• Talk about what you did to make your film appeal – the specific things you did – Actors, narrative, music, location, music, props etc

• Make sure you give plenty of examples and give detail

• Also talk about how important it is to attract a target audience – particularly linked to money!

• What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

• Show how your abilities have changed and how you have developed your use of technologies

• Talk about different technologies that you’ve used – which you liked, which you didn’t, why

• Mention which are better for individual tasks• Talk about how new technologies have changed media production?• Talk about how you learned to use these

technologies properly

• Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt it the progression from it to the main task?

• Think about the mistakes made in the prelim task• Talk about how you avoided these mistakes in your final film• Think about how your editing techniques have changed and improved• Talk about the changes in your planning, storyboarding, camerawork etc• Show the progress you have made in the

project from the preliminary to now
