What have you learnt about technologies from the process of

constructing this product?

To film our opening we used two cameras. My camera, the canon 600D (as shown to the left) and Mollies camera the canon 700D (a similar model to mine). Both these cameras enabled us to film in high quality and the similarity in camera meant the quality of the footage would be exactly the same. Having two cameras meant we could shoot the same footage at the same time but from different angles meaning we didn’t have to run a scene twice, this made us more time efficient.

Camera: Canon

This is me learning new camerawork techniques for our film opening. This camera was easy to use, and the vari-angled LCD makes it extremely useful for high- and low-angle shots

Tripod

We borrowed two tripods from school, with these we were able to connect our camera securely and achieve smooth, steady footage. The tripods were very useful in the performance scenes as we used them to track the action.

Here is me on location on the stage filming our actresses using the tripod. The extendable legs meant we could adjust it to get the required height for the shot.

This is Mollie with the soft lights we used. We used soft lights because we wanted to created a warm glowing effect especially in the dance studio scene.

Websites and Programs we have used: Blogger

Blogger is the websites we have used to create our blogs, to document all our progress, including videos and photos. The website also enabled us to view our teachers blog, which kept us up to date with deadlines etc. and gave us some handy tips. With this website I have learnt how to create posts and upload photos and videos including embedding YouTube videos.

iMovie We used Mac computers to edit our footage together. This software is used professionally and it enabled us to access many transitions, effects, sounds, music and tools. The software was easy to use and allowed us to edit clips and titles together precisely. This is a screenshot of the editing process of our footage on the iMovie software

Researching:

More programs:Adobe After EffectsWe used this program to produce our production logo/introduction. I think this sophisticated program gave our opening a very professional look. Below is a frame by frame screen grab of our logo/introduction that was created using Adobe After Effects.

Art of the title is a helpful website, which allows people to browse loads of different film openings.

It helped me to research title sequences such as ‘Dinner for Shmucks’ and ‘Great Expectations’, in turn this helped us to decide what order our titles should be in.

Here is a screen grab from their website which shows a variety of opening sequences.

Sharing our film opening

Here is a screen grab of the page when we uploaded our film to YouTube. We included tags to make our opening even more

accessible.

I have used YouTube many times during the course whether that was researching openings watching tutorials for software or uploading and sharing my own work. YouTube is a easy site to use its easily accessible to our target audience and we are also able to receive feedback through likes and comments.

Facebook is a social utility that connects

people with friends and others who work , study and live around them.

Instagram is an online mobile photo-sharing, video-sharing and

social networking service that enables its users to take pictures and videos, and share them on a

variety of social networking platforms

We have used both these social platforms to share our work and collect feedback. This means we can collect a widespread opinion which we can then use for evaluation purposes.
