How did you attract your audience?

How my magazine is successfully appealing to, attracting and addressing my target audience.

I believe my magazine is successfully appealing towards my target audience as in my research and planning stage, within my questionnaire I asked my target audience what their expectations were within a pop music magazine. On my front cover, my audience said that the most important thing was the main image, it has to be big enough for everyone to see without getting distracting from smaller objects within the front cover. The main image should grab the readers attention first and I believe that this occurs when you look at my front cover. I also asked Leanne (15) what she thought of my front cover, she said that the colours are bold and vibrant this allows the front cover to stand out enough to grab my target audiences attention. Additionally, that she liked the theme of the front cover and that she thought the santa hat was ‘cool’ this shows that little details mean a lot on a front cover and it is important that everything should be taken into consideration. For my contents page I believe it should be interesting as well as useful and informative. With mine I have got a screenshot of my front cover with numbers next to it as they are the main stories and is what the target audience should be interested in reading so I thought this was important to do to fulfill my readers needs as it saves them time looking through all the subheadings in order to find the page they want. I also think mine is organised and not to word based, as those reading it are still quite young and a convention is that it is split 50/50 regarding words and images and I believe I have captured this convention. Leanne said that she liked the front cover part being labelled but she would add more images to make it more fun.

How my magazine is successfully appealing to, attracting and addressing my target audience.

For my double page spread, within my focus group, the girls who fit my target audience both agreed that they preferred and interview styled layout as they believed that they felt like it was actually the artist speaking, so they was getting to know them artist personally. Also double page spreads are renowned for having loads of pictures, I believe I have grasped this point well as my double page spread has five pictures, and is not just word based, making it look more interesting and inviting to read. Leanne mentioned that she liked the idea that it was a question and answer based article and that if she was to make a double page spread she would do the same. She also mentioned that she thinks the images are good as they grasp the artist well and show a fun side to him which helps to tie in with the pop theme!

I think my magazine will satisfy my readers needs as it is going to contain all the information that they need and require in order to be constantly updated with the news in the celebrity world.

Also, there will be cool prizes to be won as well as competitions that they could win which the prizes range from meeting celebrities to concert tickets and shopping sprees. In almost every edition there will be a gift for the audience, whether its make up, nail varnish, sweets or a secret diary.

For theses reasons I think that they will be convinced to buy the magazine in order to read it as well as get a gift, and enjoy it with the quizzes inside that they can complete to keep them occupied. Also, the website link is written throughout the magazine, even on the front cover within the pug. This advertisement will help to convince them to also look on the website as well, where they can play games and socialise with other fans just like them!
