What type of radio network would broadcast Rebel Radio? Rebel Radio would be broadcast through a local community radio station. This is because it is a small start up that doesn’t have the required funds to become a commercial radio station and would probably be owned by a larger commercial radio business. This would essentially make Rebel Radio part of a conglomerate.

Why Have a Parent Company?

A parent company allows Rebel Radio’s stories to be researched and have the majority of them written for them. It also allows for adverts to be played on the station which generates capital for the station. This is a very good source of extra income. This income can be further spent to help expand Rebel Radio and can be used to pay wages and fund advertisements for the station which could in turn, generate more listeners for it.

What Conglomerate Ownership Means for Rebel Radio: This style of conglomerate ownership means that all stories broadcasted on Rebel Radio would be very similar if not identical to the ones broadcasted on its sister stations. This is because all the radio stations would be owned by one company. While this all seems well and good, this means Rebel Radio loses out on creating original content for its news stations as all its stories are controlled by its parent company.

Types of Stories:

Rebel Radio’s choice of stories will be chosen by the parent company. Rebel Radio’s target demographic is young people from 13 - 19 years of age. This means the majority of stories presented on Rebel Radio will be relevant to them, such as entertainment news and breaking news stories. The structure of the bulletin is heavily focused on entertainment news. This is so our target audience can enjoy the bulletin as much as they can.

Why No To The Other Methods.

There are various reasons as to why we deemed the other methods to be unsuitable. If Rebel Radio were to operate as an independent station we would face bills we could not pay. This method requires a lot of start up capital. This is capital we don’t have.
