What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Page 2: Evaluation question 3

As part of my research and planning I designed a questionnaire to ask audiences what they

would most like to see featured in my newspaper. I used the results to help develop my product as well as the ordinary codes and conventions of a newspaper.

After making my media productions I asked some local residents in Brent to comment on what they thought of the layout, the article, masthead, images and so on. I asked for 100% honest feedback including negative and positive feedback so I could understand what worked in the production and what needed some further development.

My comments on feedbackInitially, when I read the feedback people gave me, i chose to ignore what they had said because I thought it looked good from my perspective as the creator. But when I imagined myself as a reader I started to pick out flaws that I couldn’t see before. I think gaining audience feedback was extremely useful and crucial for me and I was lucky enough to get feedback that was constructive criticism and helped me better my work.

One main thing that I received feedback on was the alignment of my texts with the advertisements and the masthead. Before I had done this the newspapers did not have a professional look to it and it seemed as though the article had too much freedom. Whereas now, having rectified my errors, the fornt page looks more put together and proficient.

Something that everyone liked were the images that I used. Even thought they may be seen as disturbing images to some people, negative stories and images are what attract readers and that is why I chose to put it on the front so it would lure readers in and they would want to go and to read the article and maybe even the rest of the newspaper.
