Evaluation Question 3
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and
why ?
Film Distributors
• A film distributor is a company who is the marketer for films being a large one or small.
• They will release these films to DVD, BlueRays, theatres and onto download sites like iTunes and Netflix.
• They also decide the best times fir the film to be released in cinemas and then on to DVDs Ect.
Film Distributors
• There are main film distributors like:• Warner Bros.
• Paramount
• Universal
Our Film
• Our film production would need a major distributer as of our mainstream Action/Comedy audience.
• This means that the film would get a lot more advertising out to a lot more of the mainstream audience.
• This advertising would be on TV, YouTube and internet advertising, billboards and posters.
Our Film
• I would choose Warner Bros. as they have delivered many Action and Comedy films such as The Hangover, Lethal Weapon, Horrible Bosses and Rush Hour.
• These all have been a good success and this means that distributing with this company should mean a success for our film too.
Warner Bros.
• Warner Bros. is one of the major American film studio distributors.
• It has Distributed many films like ours which most of them succeeded very well so it should have no problem with advertising and releasing our production.
Small Budget Film Successes
• Bronson, Budget - $230,000 , Box office $2.2M • Eschewing the usual route of A to B, Bronson
has a muscular, and intense Tom Hardy directly interact with the camera/audience, attempting to give an insight into what makes him tick, rather than what he did and when.
Small Budget Film Successes
• Napoleon Dynamite, Budget - $400,00, Box office - $46.1M
• A genre-defying odd-ball comedy which defeated the odds and went massive, in the process becoming a cultural touchstone, Napoleon Dynamite remains what all good comedies should be: very funny and well-observed
