Introduction

In general, audience feedback is conducted to give myself a stronger understanding of what my audience thought about certain aspects of my production. This feedback can then be taken acted upon if necessary to improve my production so that it better fits around my audience.

Point #1

The first thing which I picked up on when looking at the answers from my audience feedback is that the majority of my audience decoded the key aspects of my teaser trailer in the way that I wanted them too. An example of this could be seen when I asked my audience about the father character, who when looking at Prop’s character roles he fit a “helper” character, someone who wanted to see the protagonist succeed. When asking my audience group what they then thought of the father character, they then picked up on the caring and friendly nature I wanted him to have towards his daughter. This feedback ultimately suggests that my attempt to create a character that was presented in a positive light for the majority was understood by my audience. On reflection, I feel that although the character was understood my audience, I feel that I could of used different uses of camerawork or mise en scene to show that the father character had a positive impact on my protagonist’s life. For example, maybe showing the father character interacting with my protagonist more through means of physical conversation might of made it clearer to the audience that the father character was there for the Protagonist.

Point #2

Throughout conducting my audience feedback, I looked into interviewing an individual who didn’t belong to my audience group, I did this because I wanted to see what opinions and ideas he had that were different to those that were female and belonged to my target audience. In a couple of instances, his views and opinions did manage to completely contrast those of my intended audience. For example when asked if my audience could relate to the protagonist, all female members of my sample stated that in one way they felt that the protagonist Emma was relatable, on the other hand when asking this individual who doesn’t belong to my target audience whether he could relate to the protagonist, he felt that he wasn’t able too. Although I would like the characters that I have created to be able to appeal to a wide audience consisting of both genders, this feedback does suggest that I have been successful in targeting the target audience that I had in mind, as some of the female members in my sample felt that her ignorance towards social media and the potential dangers often do go over looked by the majority of teenagers. Some members of my target audience felt that they could relate to Emma has she as she seemed like someone they would see around school, and that she wasn’t deemed as unattainable or unrealistic. On reflection, the majority of this feedback I feel is positive, as it shows that I have been able to create a realistic and relatable character which by using correct means of mise en scene, is physically seen as relatable by my target audience.

Point #3

An important aspect of all my productions was the generic house style. The purpose of the house style was to show clear consistency between all of the promotional products so that my audience would recognize that each product belongs to a type of brand. When asking what my audience thought in regard to this question, they all recognized that certain key features made it obvious that all of the products in relation had features which were consistent and helped them link the products together. For example, the way that I used the same font and font colour for the title "Identity" made it stand out amongst the rest. Another less obvious but equally important approach which I used was using the protagonist and her body language to show the feel of the film. This allows the protagonists face to become known to my target audience as well as show potential ideas and themes that would be explored in the text. Although my audience clearly picked up on these two features and recognized that all products were linked together to advertise one core media text, I do feel that maybe adding an extra feature to actually symbolize the brand so something like a logo maybe would made the house style the bit more obvious and engaging to the audience. An example of this can include the hunger games trilogy's mocking jay pendant, as it is used in countless promotional techniques including the teaser trailer. All in all, I feel that I have that I have been successful in creating 3 consistent products, but further features such as a logo could be added to further the success of my products and just make each one look much more professional.

Conclusion

Concluding all my thoughts and analysis on my audience feedback, It's clear that I have been able to create something which appeals to my target audience, with this being said there are some key areas which I feel that I could actively improve on such as making the house style much more evident. All in all, I feel that my audience feedback has given me a solid basis and accurate understanding of what needs to be improved and what doesn’t
