HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE COMBINATION OF YOUR MAIN PRODUCT AND THE ANCILLARY TASKS?Evaluation Question 2

I think that the combination of our main product and the accompanying tasks was done quite well. This is because we

managed to make sure we’re using the same font across all of our media products as well as the same colour schemes, both

of which help create a brand of our film ‘Vanity’.

When it came to the accompanying tasks we also made sure to have the same types of images and character shown across

both to reiterate our film and make it familiar and recognisable to our target audiences.

Colour Schemes

Throughout our three products, we made sure to use the same colour scheme that

we established in the research and planning stages. These colours being

quite warm toned: reds, oranges, blues and yellows. These colours can be seen

in our trailer as well as our magazine and poster work.

Colour Schemes

By using the same colours and shades throughout these three piece of work, we

are able to create a more professional piece of work and create more of a brand

for our film. This is because this convention connects the media texts even

when they are viewed separately. This type of convention is seen in other films of our genre like Her – we can see

that the same colour scheme on the poster is also used throughout the film and trailer

itself.

The title of the film is included in all promotional material. This means that all materials are linked together and people

will be able to link the three together themselves.

For the title of our film, we used the same font and font size across our three

tasks/products. By doing this, we’re creating a brand for our film as people will be able to recognise that it’s the

same film. Also, by each time have some sort of line under the title, it manages to

frame the title in all three products.

One thing to note would be how in the film trailer, we failed to notice that we didn’t bold the title like we did on the

magazine and poster. This slightly separates the three products from each other and it would’ve been better if we had noticed this difference and made sure that it was the same on all three

products.

Here we can see that this convention is in other films of our genre such as Love, Rosie. They use the same font in their poster and trailer to create a brand for

their film.

ImageryWe made sure that George would

be the only person on the magazine cover and poster in order to establish that he’s the

main character and we also gave him the most screen time in the trailer. This also helps represent

that the plot of the film focuses on George’s character Zac.

We also decided to use the same photo effect on our magazine

cover as our poster. The reason for this being that we felt that using

this same effect would help link the two products together further.
