CODES & CONVENTIONS• In the creation of our music magazine and my ancillary tasks there are

codes and conventions throughout to try and create a meaning to our music video so that people understand more of what’s happening and are more interested in the video because more is happening.

• There are also a wide selection of locations used in our music video with the majority of them being based outdoors with a few being hosted indoors as well. This is because our music video is Indie so we wanted to give it a different effect to most music videos which are shot indoors in studios for example.

• It’s also because we wanted to make people know that the dog was happy, lived a good life and was loved so we thought that making the majority of the shots outdoors would make it looks like he’d lived a lot better life and had plenty of exercise.

EVALUATION & ANALYSIS

• Looking back at my ancillary tasks and my main product I used a lot of outdoor shots to be included within my digipak to show the codes of what to expect within my music video.

• I also put a picture of the main character and the dog within the digipak so people know what to expect in my music video, however I put them into different photos to contradict what happens in the music video so people don’t know what to expect and if they have any links.

• Our main character’s costume displays an indie themed music video because he wears the same clothes throughout to make people feel as though they know him better and understand his style. This also shows he has a smaller selected wardrobe because he is indie and the clothing that he wears is more unique, different and not mainstream which would suit a Pop genre music video better.

SECONDARY RESEARCH• Through my secondary research I discovered that in the majority of

digipak’s they have artists on the front cover so I put our character on the front but he doesn’t have a direct address.

• This shows that there’s a code telling the audience that something happens but they don’t know what that is, so they are intrigued to find out what has occurred within the music video, convincing them to purchase the digipak.

FINAL RESULT• The final result of my music video and ancillary tasks has shown that I

have used codes and conventions to a high standard. This has been done by the use of Mise-en-scene, locations and other aspects of the music video to help our target audience appreciate what is happening throughout the music video.

• If it wasn’t for the audience feedback that I received through survey monkey we wouldn’t have been able to link to the codes and conventions of Indie-Pop as the questionnaire really helped give us an insight of how to connect with the target audience and keep them engaged and interested with the music video.

•  Overall, I am proud of the end result and it shows that hard work pays off.
