HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE COMBINATION OF YOUR

MAIN PRODUCT AND ANCILLARY TASKS?

For the front cover of my digipak I used a close up of the artist. She is easily recognised and so people who have seen the music video can easily find her album when browsing in store or online. I picked a black and white effect for this as within my music video flashbacks are shown in black and white. This is to link to the past, whilst symbolising that she is reflecting on the past, and what happened to her best friend in the narrative of my music video. She looks quite glamorous due to the volume of her hair and her eye make up make up which shows that her life is going well, again linking to the narrative. It shows that she is well groomed, implying that she is taking care for herself, unlike her best friend. I like the use of the shadow, to show that her best friend’s death is still shadowing over her and effecting her.

For the font I used a cursive style. This links in with the glamour within the picture, whilst making it look like she wrote it which gives it a personal touch. It is red to connote both danger and love, both of which are strong themes within my narrative.

For the spine of my digipak I kept the font simple, making it clear and easily to read. I chose red, linking to the front cover, along with white, which is simple whilst linking to innocence and light, which in turn links to death.

For the back cover I used a forest setting. This links in with the field used within my music video, however it is a more dim image of nature. It is also isolated which reflects how the best friend was within my narrative. I kept to the theme of red font, making it bold so that it was clear to read.

For the inside cover I used an image directly from my music video. This shows the artist and her friend looking at each other. This works effectively as it shows that they know each other, whilst also indicating that there may be tension between them. I kept to a black and white theme to show that it is in the past, as well as it giving it a more reflective feel. The font is white which continues the theme of my digipak.

As for the CD I chose an image of a picture of the two friends being set on fire by a candle. This works well to show the narrative, showing conflict and tension.

For my advert I used the same image as I used on my digipak, clearly linking the two together. The text featuring the artist and album name is also similar which connotes love and danger as I mentioned previously. This is large and stands out, making this section of the advert the most eye catching.

I then added more detail, such as reviews and information which helps to inform the audience. This is kept in a clear, simple and organised lay out. I mentioned the name of the song that my music video was for, effectively linking the two.

In general I believe that my music video, digipakand advert all link together well. I have kept the same themes throughout, such as love and danger, whilst using similar images within them all to show a connection.
