1. How did you attract/address your audience?

SAINTS OPENING TITLE SEQUENCE EVALUATION

DIEGETIC NON-DIEGETIC SOUND • One of the first ways we attracted our audience was the use of our music in the title sequence. The

music establishes the start of the film as it begins quietly as the two characters talk. The music stops as the Mob Boss shoots Cassandra and restarts as he walks away. We also use sound effects to further capture the audience such as our use of the gun shot and sirens.

SOUND EFFECTS• One of the first effects we use in the film is the gunshot. As we have discussed it establishes the fate of

Latifah and the end of the scene. The first thing we changed when adding the gun shot was the sound limit. The gun shot originally was the Tarsus 44 Jpg but we decided to change this as it was way to quiet. We added a new gun shot sound and put the limiter to the maximum. We also added an echo to increase the volume and make the gunshot more dramatic.

LOCATION • There were 2 locations for the shooting of our opening sequence. The first was Stoke Newington on a

housing estate, the second was a house behind Clapton Pond and the pond itself. The locations were meant to be a contrast between rich and poor as Latifah is shot outside the estate while the Mob Boss is shot outside his mansion. We also filmed at the pond during Latifah’s delivery and a side road during the scene when Latifah dies. This gives the audience the impression that the film takes place at multiple times and places giving it a bigger appeal.

CAMERA MOVEMENTS AND EDITING • The biggest way in which we attract the audience is our use of camera movements. The majority of the

shots of our film are done in hand held form with camera shake to suggest unease. We also use a tripod in shots of the Mansion to give the impression of ease. We also use a number of camera movements such as hand held shaky camera to suggest fast paced movement and panic as seen when Cassandra runs for the buss. We also use editing to switch between characters and locations as well as to introduce characters.
