Evaluation Question 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Page 2: Evaluation Question 1

The genre I picked was Alternative rock, and this is shown by the use of band shots I have presented, such as the close-up of the guitarist, and the singular shots of the band members. I had seen in Rise Against’s previous music videos that they also did this, so I thought that it would make it more like their videos by recreating some of the shots they have done themselves.

Relationship between lyrics and visuals

In my music video there is a clear representation of this point by Goodwin. We are able to see that the lyrics are matching with what is happening in the narrative, such as the car shots of the characters and through the windscreen.

Relationship between music and visuals

I have included on-beat editing in my music video. This is shown when the band is playing and when they are saying the lyrics in conversation in the car.

The demands of the record label (Close-ups of the artist)

I have taken a lot of close-up shots of my artist when he is singing the song, but also when he is in character, like in the car and in the restaurant.

Frequently reference to the notion of looking

This mostly relates to the windscreen shots when the car is driving through the car park and along the roads. These shots can be from either Rob or Chrissi’s character.
