EVALUATION POST 3What kind of media institution

might distribute your media product and why?

WHY HAVE YOU CHOSEN YOUR PRODUCTION COMPANY LOGO? I had chosen my production company

too look like the way it does because it has an eerie effect to it, with the dark colours that would represent dark shadows, and the silent, and scary atmosphere you would find in horror movies. The vein-looking effect makes it seem like colourless blood – death, which is a very common factor in horror movies.

WHAT IS A PRODUCTION COMPANY? WHAT DO THEY DO? A production company provides the

people (that want to make this movie) with the basic works, such as studios, stage, makeup etc. There are a variety of production companies, some are small and some are big. Depending on the size of the company, some films may become big if they are from huge production companies, so this may be an element of advertising.

WHAT IS THE JOB OF A FILM DISTRIBUTOR? A film distributor is in charge of

advertising and marketing the movie/film to exhibitors, (for an example, cineworld), which exhibitors would screen the film so that the audience can view the film. Distributors are there to bring an audience, preferably the target audience of that specific film.

WHAT FILM DISTRIBUTOR WOULD YOU CHOOSE FOR YOUR FILM AND WHY?WHAT OTHER FILMES HAVE THEY DISTRIBUTED THAT’S SIMILAR TO YOURS?

I would choose Lionsgate Films as they also distribute horror films along with other genre’s. This distribution has had many successful horror films that are very similar to mine like the Last exorcism, the Woman In Black, a Vampires Tale and Alive or Dead.

HOW WOULD YOUR FILM BE FUNDED? My film would be funded how most films

are funded – investors. Investors play quite a big part in the filming industry as they are the people that decide if they want to invest in a movie or not. From this money, the production company is then able to make the filming happen by creating the mise-en-scene, money for advertisements etc. The more money that goes into a movie, the better.

WHY DO YOU NEED TITLES? HOW HAVE YOU PRESENTED THEM? Titles in films are important, whther that’s

the opening credits or the ending credits. This is so that we can credit all people and companies that were involved in the making of the film. As movies are difficult to produce, it is important to credit those from importance, to the people who did the ‘small details’ in the film. Also, in opening credits, it is interesting for the audience to know which celebrities are starring in the film. This is a form of advertisement as people are more likely to watch a film with a well-known actress/actor.
