Transcript of Evaluation on
This is a September
2013 publication by
team rock. It is a
‘premiere issue with
Johnny Cash,15 track
music CD,69 must
have modern
country classics &
more.’ This is a good
evaluative section
for my own
magazine.
First Magazine
Stylised black heading, highlighted by grey inner line. Dark and mysterious. Matches picture of Johnny Cash = black & white. Sans-serif font matches the modern image of the magazine.
Masthead
Stylised white heading with black highlights = transparent highlights.
Reflective of frontier style writing.
Fancy serif script is reflective of cash’s image as a western singer, against his bad boy image. Could be seen as a tattoo sort of font.
Classical font = reflective of Cash’s classical image = americana
Coverline
Sub-headings
Sans-serif = modernistic = reflective of modern image of the magazine. Orange highlight. New makes it more appealing to the audience.
Orange highlight.
Serif = country music = classical.
Attracts audience.
Serif font and black twisted box = classic reflective of country.
Little different to others.
Main image – Cover image
Seems 3D due to JC head being cropped out of ther picture. Pops out of the image.
Modern twist to 50’s image. Relevance of country music to modern audience.
June 2012
publication of the
usually pop
orientated billboad
magazine.
Special issue for
country magazine.
Second magazine
Masthead
Sans-serif font = modernistic font. No real relevance to the image. Not reflective of classical coutry music themes.
Coverline
Double coloured = red and black = classical colours for a modern font sans-serif. Modern influence of country music.
‘I’ are joined in stadium and king. Highlighted in red. Interesting twist.
Kenny Chesney highlighted in red, shows that it is him in the image reflects his importance.
Quotation.
This text is in serif text. Expresses the classical appeal of country music and reflects the image presented by KC
Yellow quotation marks highlight the quote by KC, however the actual section is quite small drawing more attention to the musician in the picture rather than what is covered in the magazine.
