HOW DID YOU ATTRACT/ADDRESS YOUR AUDIENCE?

INFLUENCES- OUIJA

We was influenced by the idea of the séance. We have changed the idea of the séance being inside a house and with the help of our teacher we decided to be unique and different henceforth doing our séance within a garden. Mise en scene was a also an influences as we went for a casual looking look with low key lighting avoiding attention on an individual character. We also have used the idea of sitting around a table. Sound from Ouija was a tensed droning music and faster paced music on creepier bits. We have also attempted this .

INFLUENCES- PARANORMAL ACTIVITYWe were influenced by the editing with the Paranormal Activity movie/trailer. Within the movie it is shot only with POV editing due to the film being shot as a documentary. Within our opening we also used a few POV shots to make the audience see what Lizzie sees. We were also influenced by the title screen editing of the trailer. The text seem to be disturbed by the electric waves on the screen, throughout our trailer teaser we also replicated this idea. This idea contravened with our idea of phones and electrical devices. The disturbance within the text also made our trailer texts related.

INFLUENCES- UNFRIENDEDUnfriended fits in with the same unique point as we do. This is new genre combining thriller with electronic devices. We have based our ideas to do unique and fresh. This is also what unfriended have done also and we feel that this will soon become a big market for film industries. Unfriended is about a dead friend who haunts the bullies that leaked a video, she haunted through skype and the film is only shown from a skype video chat screen. Although the idea is similar to ours we have a different story to this as Lizzie (the innocent one) turns out with a twist. We attempted to use our possession through phone which links with the influence of Unfriended.

CONVENTIONS

Our film is a thriller, horror. The sub genre is a mystery with psychological elements. This means that we are reaching a wider audience as different genres appeal to different

varieties of people. The music we used has airy feel which makes the thriller feel more scary as the audience are unsure on what is going to happen next, it also consist with the codes and conventions of thriller films as it creates tension before the climax of events. This means that it emphasises the feelings to the audience, which makes it feel more

realistic.

As we filmed in the dark the lighting is dull which goes long with the codes and conventions of a thriller. The dark lighting means that the audience gets the feeling of

being more dramatic and scary. It also keeps the tension as people don’t know what to except to come.

UNIQUE SELLING POINT

The Unique selling point of our film is that we have used technology in a new way. As we have used technology with mystery which makes it a more modern film as technology is

growing more and more popular. This means that people are able to relate to the film which makes it more realistic to the audience so that they feel what the character are feeling. The benefit of this is that they will enjoy the film and recommend the film to

others which means more people will watch the film.

We have also kept the story line a mystery so the audience will want to continue watching the film, so they find out what the message on the phone means and what

happens to the characters in the rest of the film or what caused Lizzie’s change.

ANALYSIS OF ONLINE WEBSITESFor online activities we used twitter, Instagram and Youtube. We have chosen these social websites/apps as they are new and helpful towards blogging and sharing our experience. This was influenced by all movie releases being promoted through companies and producers social accounts.

As you can see for Instagram we shared a few pictures of our group for the public to see who we are and what we are up to. We also uploaded pictures of our teaser blog so that the audience is updated with a glimpse of the type of movie being released. This app was key for promoting as most of our audience are more or likely to have an Instagram account, therefore a main source of communicating.

ANALYSIS OF ONLINE WEBSITESWe have also used twitter too attempt to communicate with our audience, we tweeted when we filmed. This was influenced by other celebrity/producing accounts which attempt the same promoting ideas. Although we didn’t tweet much, the idea of this account was made to promote in a fun way.

ANALYSIS OF TEASER TRAILERThe teaser trailer goes with the conventions of a thriller as it uses rapid editing. The technique builds tension and means that the audience see short shots of the thriller. This means that the audience will want to watch the film when it comes out. It also makes that audience feel more frighten as they are waiting for a jump scare.

The trailer also uses music which makes the trailer more dramatic and emphasises the feeling of mystery. This means the audience will feel more inclined to watch the film so they can find out what happen to the characters in the rest of the film.

Text is also used in the trailer so that the audience is able to understand a bit about the storyline and who has made the film. This means the audience can look out for the film in cinemas and in shops. The background of the text also gives it a more mysterious feeling and goes with the conventions as its dark and creepy.

We would share our trailer on social networking sites such as Instagram, Youtube and Twitter, this means that our audience will be able to find our trailer and more information on the film. This means that we will be able to gain a wider audience of people in our target audience as these are the site they use a lot.
