In order to create my media products (music video, poster and advert), I had to use many different types of technology to help me make sure that the planning, production and editing stages of my products were displayed at a professional level.

INTRODUCTION

Google Forms – I used this to create my audience questionnaire. The program allowed me to design a formal and straight forward questionnaire that would allow me to receive responses from my target audience. I used google forms during the pre production stages to ask my audience what they thought made a good media product so I could gain knowledge on what my audience wants.

Storyboard That – I used this program on the internet to create a storyboard. I decided to use this program instead of doing it by hand because I thought that it would look neater and be easier to understand what are intentions were for each shot.

PowerPoint – I used Microsoft PowerPoint to create my evaluations in a interesting visual way. PowerPoint is also easy to use which helped speed the writing process along.

Slideshare – To show these PowerPoints on Blogger, I uploaded the PowerPoint onto slideshare then embedded the final product onto blogger.

DSLR Camera – We used DSLR camera’s for test photo and video shoots so we could get an idea of how to use them, what the quality of the images would look like and to understand what camera shots we would use and how they would look.

Any Difficulties? Storyboard That – This program was quite

time consuming, but we still used it because we wanted our storyboard to be as neat as possible.

DSLR Camera – As these camera’s are designed to a professional level, they can be quite difficult and complex to use, so it took us some time to understand how to use it.

Pre-Production & Planning

DSLR Camera’s – This camera played a vital part in the production process. We used the camera to record and capture the footage for the music video and for the images we would use on our print products. Because it is a professional camera, we were able to not only get good quality shots, but we could also change the focus and make certain areas of the shot stand out more.

iPhone 5C – Whilst we were doing some final shots for our photoshoot, the DSLR camera ran out of battery. However, we decided to use Louisa’s iPhone to take some final pictures. Luckily, the quality on the phone was good, so we decided that we could use them on our print products if we wanted to.

Lighting – From the very beginning of pre production, we decided to use natural lighting to highlight the video’s naturalistic feeling. Because of this, we did not use any lighting equipment/protection.

Production

Any Difficulties? DSLR Camera – The camera ran out of battery

toward the end of the shoot, but we manage to resolve the problem by using Louisa's phone.

Natural Lighting – Because we were surrou8nded by trees, the barks off of them usually blocked the sunlight, making some shots slightly darker then they should be. However, we decided to not edit this because it still highlights the naturalistic element of the video.

Production

Adobe Photoshop – I used this program to create my print products. Photoshop allows me to create professional looking work thanks to it’s wide variety of editing options. I decided to make use of the options I had by playing around with the colours so the model was in black and white whilst the woodland’s were colourful to show a clear contrast in the atmosphere and the emotions the model is feeling.

Post-Production

Apple Mac – I used these computers when using Photoshop as they are quicker and more reliable than standard computers. Because of this, many of the tasks I had to do, from typing on the blog to using Photoshop were a lot less time consuming, and the fluidity of the computer allowed me to use certain programs more freely.

DailyMotion – Because of Taylor Swift’s heavy copyright rules, our group could not upload our video to YouTube. Instead, we uploaded it to DailyMotion, which is a lesser known video sharing website. The video has been on the website for couple of months, and hasn’t been taken down yet, which has become very beneficial as we had to share it with other people to get audience feedback.

Premiere Pro – In order to edit our music video to a professional standard, we used the premierepro program on the Apple Mac’s, This program allows users to edit their own videos and it gives the user a wide variety of tools and options that they can use. We could’ve used another editing program, such as Windows movie maker, but premiere pro is the only program that was both free and complex. Premiere pro worked very well when we were editing our video, and we included not only some basic effects such as slow motion and close-up's, but we also managed to converge two separate shots together and edit the colours so certain aspects of shots could be highlighted.

Any Difficulties? Photoshop – Due to it’s professional nature, and despite the fact that I have used

Photoshop in the past, I still had some trouble using some of the tools on the program. However, I admit that what I wanted to achieve was ambitious for my knowledge of what I can do with Photoshop, but I wanted to challenge myself and make use of what the program had to offer.

DailyMotion/Apple Mac – For some reason, we couldn’t watch our music video on DailyMotion when using the macs because the website wouldn’t work. Because of this, our group couldn’t go back and watch it individually if we needed help referencing a certain part in the video. We resolved this by adding the original video file to the group’s google drive so it could be watched when we log into the groups google account.

PremierePro - Because it is a professional piece of software, it took some time to understand the different tools available, so it was time consuming. However, we managed to get used to the options and how to use them and eventually we managed to be able to easily use the program.

Post-Production

For the evaluation, we have to show that we understand how to use technology. Because of this, for each question for the evaluation, we had to present our answer using a different program. Blogger – Our group have used blogger for the entire project. We have used it to post about group

meetings and upload our work. For question 1, I simply typed up my answer on blogger because It was a long answer and I didn’t want to answer it on a program such as Prezi or PowToons because it would be too time consuming.

SoundCloud – For the 2nd question, I decided to record my voice and then upload the recording to SoundCloud and then upload it to the group’s blog because once again, my response to the question was long, but typing the question up would also be time consuming.

Prezi – I used this program for question 3 to show the results I received from my audience feedback for my print products. Prezi is a smooth program that easily breaks up your presentation into different sections, which is very beneficial as the audience feedback includes different subject matters such as demographics and people’s thoughts on improvements.

PhotoBooth – We used the photobooth progrm on the Apple Macs to record people’s reactions when watching our music video as it was a different way of showing what responses we received from our target audience.

PowerPoint/Slideshare – For this question, I used PowerPoint as it is a program I am very aware of and have used many times, so it has been very easy to use. I then uploaded this PowerPoint to Slideshare so it could be viewed on blogger.
