Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Evaluation: Question Seven

Before I filmed my product I had to watch a wide range of action, so as to get an idea of what I should use for my opening scene. This included what mise-n-scenes, music and editing I need to use. The films which helped me are included in my mood board with specific information of what I took from each. Moreover, for my genre analysis I

learnt what I have to show my audience in order to imiteatate the Action genre. I found out what generic conventions, sub-genres and hybrid-genres are most

commonly used and I applied them to my product.

These are the action movies I watched to research the genre

At the beginning of my production I knew only a few concepts: several camera techniques and some media terminology. However, what helped me develop my knowledge was the process of making my movie a finished product. After my research and planning I started to film. During that time I learnt how to work with a camera. The camera I used (Cannon EOS 600D) had different options of filming. It’s features are :

• Full HD 1080p video recording.• DIGIC 4 image processor

• A developed cannon processor• better and faster

• 3–10× Digital Zoom in video recording• Many others.

When I finished filming the opening scene I started to edit it. This process was really exciting because of the program I used which was Final Cut Pro X. This program has

many features so I had to read more about then in order to make my editing interesting and efficient. The program allowed me to make my scenes more high definition and also add different non-diegetic sounds, like the audio of my actors

voice and the gun shots. Moreover, I learnt how to apply a gun fire effect. This was the first time I have ever had to use such effects. Besides that, the program allows

for different transitions effects . In ‘’NAIVETY’’ I used mainly the Cross Dissolved effect when I was changing scenes.

The process of making scenes appear in higher quality by altering the saturation

and intensity of the colours

This pictures shows the process of applying the gun-fire effect, as well as the sounds

accompanying it

As a side note, I must say that the time I spent on this project has expanded my knowledge of media by allowing me to apply the theory I learnt in class. I am not fully satisfied with my opening scene, but given the resources I had at my disposal, I do not believe that a better version of it could have been devised. This was my first time using

so many programmes in order to promote my work and I hope that the results are pleasing to the eye.
