My music video uses and develops conventions of real media products that are currently on the

media market. For example, I did research on the artist whose song Iam usingand I also did

research on similar artists and that allowed me to have an insight on which sort of features I

should use on my own work.

In what ways does your media product use,

develop or challenge forms and conventions

of real media products?

Page 3: Evaluation

Another convention I discovered from my research was that there is a fine relationship between the music/lyrics and to what is actually been shown in the video, visually. For example, things that were happening on the video were mentioned in the song this was done because similar artists also did this and my video reflects real media products in this way. I did this by arranging different shots for example the pace of the song at the beginning was very fast so Ispeeded up the first few seconds of the video this corresponded well to the song.

Also another convention I have discovered when looking at similar artists and genres to mine was that they often used a camera shot where the camera in my video plays a person and acts as point of view for some of the footage. For example, when someone is following Henna.

Overall, I personally believe that my video fits in with real media products as it does use conventions that are very common music videos. My music video is similar to other artists videos within the same genre therefore, it does not challenge conventions of media products.

How effective is combination of your main product and ancillary tasks?

• After researching on my ancillary task which was an album and poster I carried out a house style throughout my tasks for example I used red, white and black to make them consistent and professional.

Page 7: Evaluation

I wanted my music video, digi pack and my poster to have a strong link visually so if my target audiace would link them together whenever they saw it for example , supermarkets or stores. This is why the poster and digi pack had images of the band from the video. This makes it easier for the audience to link them together.

Page 8: Evaluation

• Also to make my audience recognise the digi pack I included a picture of the pack onto my poster. This was done so it could be easier for them to recognise how the digi packed looked when they were searching for it in store.

Page 9: Evaluation

The digi pack has pictures from the music video this makes the bang recognisable and promotes the music video. Also I put the digi packs release date because I believe its very vital to put information as advertisements only work if they are selling the media product and giving the correct information.

I used publisher to put together my digi pack and I used photoshop to put together my poster. This wasn’t very difficult as I used photopshop in As when I was creating a music magazine.

What have you learned from your auidance feedback?

The first time I got some audience feedback was when I showed my footage to my classmates. I received some constructive critisim and suggestions which was complimenting and impoving my footage. For example the feedback I received was that they thought that my location and my range of shots were excellent and fitted to my genre and song. The few concerns were that I should use the tripod as my hands were shaking and it affected the footage.

Page 12: Evaluation

Audience feeback showed that I had targeted the right audience as my classmates were the right age and their taste fitted to the genre of my music video. I also asked people on Facebook to fill out a questionnaire for me to find out what they liked and disliked about my music video. I found out that they really enjoyed my music video as it had humour and different scenes to it which made it enjoyable. Others commented how they liked the storyline to the video and how the storyline had a bit of comedy to it.

As I began to come to the end of my editing I asked a few people on what they thought of my video and how I could improve it. Those people thought that they loved the different shots and locations and they thought that I needed to make my video a bit more up beat in terms of editing therefore, I put speeded up the pace of the footage which they really liked.

Whilst creating my digi pack and poster I frequently asked other media students for feedback so I could make it more professional and good as possible. The feedback that I got was that they loved the choice of colour and pictures. They also loved how I blended pictures into shapes and added them to the background behind the masthead.

Page 15: Evaluation

Feedback is important because it enables me to reflect and develop on my strengths and weakness. It also helps me to improve my standard of work and encourages and reassures me if I'm doing something correct.

How did you your new media technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluating stages?

• During my research process I used the internet primarily to find out what style and conventions go with my genre. I used YouTube and Google to do this.

Page 17: Evaluation

During my process of creating my music video and ancillary tasks I used many programs. For example I used imovie on the Mac computers to put together and edit my music video. Using imovie allowed me to use different effects to my music video and allowed me to use different transitions. I used Photoshop to create my poster this allowed me to manipulate images and texts to make my poster look more attractive and professional. I also used a flipcamwhich I already knew how to use as I used it to film footage for school and I used a tripod to hold up the flipcam.
