Question 2:How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

Page 2: Evaluation

The CombinationThese are the three products: Poster Trailer Magazine

Page 3: Evaluation

House StyleWe chose to use a house style, meaning that we use a

colour scheme for the three products This is one way in which we combined the three things

strongly. The main colours, black and white, are bold contrasting colours which attract the audiences attention; there are also traces of the colour red throughout each of the products which stands out when on the black and white background. We finely modified the colour red on each of the products to reflect stereotypical horror films as the colour red represents blood and gore.

We have also chosen to use the font used for the title of the film when mentioning the film on the magazine to show brand recognition through the three products.

“Make friends, make friends… Never ever break friends”This is a quote that we have used in the

trailer which we also used to promote the film on the poster. The repetition of this quote carries brand recognition. It also intrigues the audience as to why it is significant that the quote has been repeated and creates initial theories about the storyline- encouraging the audience to watch the film.

The FaceVariations of this face is

used throughout both the ancillary texts and the main product. This creates an image in the audiences mind which they can relate to when they think about the film. The vacant expression on the face leaves the characterisation open to the audiences imagination.

SummaryI believe that we have fully capitalised on

being able to use the poster and magazine to advertise our film and think that all of our products have worked well collectively and feel that together they would create a 'buzz' for our audience.
