RESEARCH• From the use of search engines such as Google, Wiki and more this helped me to get a wider range of

information on what the genre ‘Rock’ is all about and what it contains.

• Search engines helped me research into Rock Music Videos what they contain, a certain theme etc. From this I picked up that many Music Videos of this genre contain and tend to be performance based, showing who the artist is and what they are all about. Therefore selling the Artist as well as the track. – Star Appeal Goodwins Theory.

• Furthermore It helped me into finding out about all the different genres of rock itself and how they vary from one to another, what different target audiences they attract and mostly into what different styles of costume and makeup they contain or have an interest in. this helped me find out what costume my Genre of Rock was like so that therefore in the future when I came to make my main product I knew how to dress my characters in a certain way to attract the right target audience.

• Again search engines allowed me to research into my genre because I could go on different Social media websites and find out more information about these artists, research into their own websites and what they include and furthermore what digipaks include of. this helped me because when coming to create my own website and digipak I new what needed to be included to achieve the best outcome in attracting my audience, having the right features and options. It also helped me when creating my digipak as I new what feature's it needed to contain such as copyright labels, record label's, artist images and furthermore graphics and editing techniques they used to attract their audience.

YOUTUBE• Youtube helped me throughout my work in various different of ways. One example being

through my reaching progress I used YouTube to look into different types of Music Videos for artists of the same genre as mine. This allowed me to get a wider range of what was needed to be included in my music video to show my genre and attract audience attention. Furthermore comments on YouTube under artists music videos uploads helped, as I was reading into other peoples Feed Back and what opinions they had to certain things featuring in their music video. This then gave me more of an incite to what the audience enjoy within this Rock Genre.

• You Tube also helped me when I was coming to upload my own work so that I could share it on my Website I had created for my artist or to share on my blogger I have been updating throughout my progression. YouTube helped because I was able to upload videos of audience feedback and questionnaires to get an embedded code to then share on my blogger and then later on annotate.

• Here is an example where real feedback onto other artists work helped me into learning more about what the audience like in a music video, dislike and furthermore what they expect to see. For example editing techniques, the bands performance or the music videos narrative/story line.

SOCIAL MEDIA• Throughout my progress of coming up to my main product I realised how important and

how much social media had an impact. For example, artists using social media to promote their band and their music, but this wasn’t just through one social media website it was through many different ones using a range of different media. Such as Facebook and Twitter for live artist updates and comments, Instagram and Tumblr for artist images and videos.

• All these social media networks are available for the audience to follow and share what the artists are updating which then increases the artist audience and with them sharing their ‘posts’ the audience are then promoting that artist.

ADOBE AND PHOTOSHOP• Another two main media products I used were Adobe and Photoshop, these two programs allowed me to edit and

product products for my music video, website and digipak as they both contained many different options and tools for me to create different effects and link everything together with a certain theme and most importantly to my artist and their genre.

• Photoshop helped me because I was able to create a significant logo for my artist, something for the audience to recognise the band by. This logo then featured on my website and digipak so that they could see the connection between them both. Furthermore I set the logo as my background on blogger to show the link between my process and my final products, making sure that all my products followed by a certain theme and genre.

• Photoshop is also where I created my digipak for my artist, which allowed me to use a various range of different tools to create effects. One’s being ‘Liner Burn’ and ‘Opacity’ which allowed me to layer images over one another and then once selecting this tool or adjusting this tool you were able to see them both merging into one another, creating the same effect and link towards my music video.

• Adobe Premier was where I created and edited my music video, again this allowed me to add effects and techniques into my work to enhance the video footage and changed the way the audience viewed it. For example layering video footage over one another on the timeline and selecting ‘screen’ under ‘effect controls’ so that they played over one another, allowing you to see both footage at the same time, just like my images on my digipak. Adobe also allowed me to colour grade my music video, ensuring that I got a professional finish, furthermore making sure that it linked back to my artist and theme as colour grading my final product allowed me to enhanced the artists genre. For example increasing the contrast between light and dark areas of the footage which exaggerated the tone and atmosphere of the narrative and genre.

TOOLS • Different media products such as; Slide share, tube chop and Prezi allowed me to present

my findings and research into my Genre and my Genres artists in different and more technical ways so that on my blog you could see clearly what I was trying to communicate across and show. Tube Chop was a favourite of mine as when I was analysing into different Artists and looking into their music videos, If I liked a particular part or effect that this artist had used I could chop the music video down to those few seconds that I was describing so you could see a clearly what I was trying get across. This also helped me because I could narrow down my research and get straight to the point, so that when looking back through my research when coming to create my music video I could see and clear connection where I had got my initial inspiration from.

• Slide Share and Prezi were also create ways to present my work on blogger in a creative way instead of it being simple images and texts, therefore through these media products I could show my genre through use of theme, video links and annotation into more creativity and detail. Again this was helpful from when I wanted to look back through my research as they stood out to me when going through my blog and became useful when video links and images were connection to them.

• Wix was where I was able to create my artists website. Wix allowed me to create an accurate and professional looking website as it contained many different tools and attachments that you could add or create yourself.

• Wix allowed me to link up social media websites that I had created for my artist, making the website look more realistic for the audience to enjoy and have an easy access to all of the artists media. I created these links as Wix provided me with different buttons containing logos for each different social media website. All I had to do was connect the button to my social media websites through a link.

• Wix also allowed me to create a website that matched my theme and genre, as you could create your own pages, using different colours to what ever you had chosen. Furthermore it allowed me to have a choice into a different Font so that I could increase the connection between my artist and the genre. I was then able allowed to add artist images in different effective ways instead of just placing the image onto the back of the website page. Wix allowed me to choose graphics such as photo booklets, swiping motions or grids. This just gave my website more of a professional look, which displayed my images in more of an effective way.

• I found Wix very useful as it was easy and clear for me to use. It allowed me to add all the features I wanted to add from being influenced from previous research into other artists of my genres websites. For example, Merchandise, Artist Images, Social Media, Band Updates and most importantly the theme of the website which is hat would attract the audience and keep them on-line.

FILMING - TECHNOLOGY• Other media products such as the filming equipment that was available for us to use were extremely

helpful as after all the research and planning as done and into place it was now time to film. From having a wide range of information into the artists genre, what their music videos included the technology that I used allowed me to enhance those techniques and outcomes within my main product – the music video.

• I used a wide range of technology to ensure I got the best outcome that I could which included; Cannon DSLR Recording cameras, Tripod and Light fixtures and filters to highlight and change the videoing footage while filming, just like on live performances on stage – which was great as it was related to my genre!

• The cameras allowed me to get great quality footage to that my final product was at a strong quality. Furthermore the cameras were also able to connect to the tripods so that we could get fixed still shots as well as movement. They also were able to attach to the light fixtures so that when filming close ups the lights would be attached to the top of the camera shining onto the subjects face creating a stop quality image and creative effect. The light fixtures especially helped when filming the narrative as it was in the evening so therefore their was a worry that the quality of the footage would be effected. Using the light fixture just added that extra amount of light, lighting up the area in which was filming which stopped us from getting low quality footage.
