Photoshop

• Photoshop was an essential piece of software when creating the Death Jam logo, Poster, Production details and Horror magazine. As well as downloading fonts from www.dafont.com. Using the skills learnt from last year and the research done earlier in the course, myself and my team began to construct our logo and production companies. Towards the final days of filming, the magazine and poster was made up both going through 2 drafts, the first and final. The first draft was to form the layout and shape and the 2nd and final was to improve lacking portions and polish the layout. This work and can be seen in blog posts of Magazine/Poster first/final draft. By using content analysis, the basic and formal constructs of these products were found and used in our own projects. This can be seen when contrasting posters and movie magazines with my product. Overall my Photoshop skills have certainly improved. I am definitely more confident when using the software.

iMovie

• iMovie was the heart of making the trailer, this editing software was on our iMacs and all that was needed to be done was import our footage, the controls were very straight forward, cutting, adding sound and text were self explanatory. I did not find this software a challenge to use however it was extremely difficult to edit our footage on the terms of making a trailer when following ‘Todorov‘s theory‘ but after many hours of editing our trailer was finally complete. Overall I found iMovie very satisfying to use, especially developing my skills in continuity editing.

• This software’s primary function was to create and present our screenplay in the most professional manner. This involved typing out the Death Jam script whilst making notes of what props will be needed in which act, location of each scene, actors involved in that seen etc. I found it very easy to use and was impressed with its efficiency and being able to catorgorise all of the fields. Overall this software did at first seem to be tricky to use but once you understand how to use it, it becomes an excellent asset when creating a screenplay.

• The primary technology this portfolio centred around was online blogging website blogger. Having used Blogger in AS Media I was familiar with the layout of the website and how to use it. This year I have developed and used more of the functions on offer. Functions such as Embedding Videos, SlideShare and audio clips. Hyperlinks have also been linked to sections of text. Images have also been posted. Overall Blogger is a superb asset for the online blogging experience, and has shown the progress in my ability to blog online and show my progression.

Other technological processes used…

-Microsoft Excel-Microsoft Word-Microsoft Powerpoint

Garageband- This software was used to extract parts of audio for the trailer. The process of this was simple and selfexplainitory.

iPhoto was used to upload photos onto the computer ready to blog or import onto Photoshop

Slideshare was used as a online projector to view powerpoint presentations of work. This was popularly used in my AS coursework and was very favourable in this years. Its simple to make and easy to use.
