How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

There are multiple images on the front of our digipak, aimed at gaining the interest of viewers. The picture of Hayley, our actress with the guitar, was taken with a digital camera, and edited on the website www.picnik.com. The digipak also contains the lyrics of some of the songs on the album along with a list of the songs on the album. The image of the cartoon gypsy was made by Jaye, our editor. She used Photoshop to combine images, to match the title of the album, Pirates and Gypsies.

A number of different adverts were looked at by multiple members in our group before actually creating our own. One Advert in particular stuck out, therefore the advert was given a thick border around the picture and the same background as our digipak. As the inspirational advert had done. We also used the same font as the digipak, along with adding a HMV Logo, which added to the authenticity of the Advert.

Our Advert

Digipak Comparison

The front cover of the digipak is similar to the others, containing a picture of the artist, the artist’s name and the album name.

Advert Comparison

Our advert contains all the information shown on both the comparative examples, such as the release date, then name of the single, a picture of the artist and, as shown by the advert on the right, a quote.

The combination of our main text and the ancillary text are very effective, this is because the main image used in our digipak are similar to the scenes in our media product. This is also because our media texts contain all the information needed and were built to meet a structure similar to professional media products.
