Front Cover

Page 2: Evaluation 1 (a,b,c)

The title relates to a real magazine as it is big and stands out, I have placed a picture over some of the letters as most magazines these days have as people who are loyal to the magazine still know what it means.

The top headers are adverts about festival information, I got this from a Kerrang magazine where download festival and Soniphere festival line up was being announced so the music magazines advertise the line up on who is performing and rumors.

I have got the free poster inside idea from Kerrang as the Kerrang magazines attract the target audience because of the magazines which Kerrang offer inside.

I used subheadings like music saved my life as they represent different story’s inside the magazine, most magazines have more than one story so small pieces of writing advertise that on the cover.

I used a band logo I made to represent a band as most issues are about one band which highlight the double page spread, this brings the audience attention if it’s theirs favourite band.

Most band magazines have a featuring section which have more names of bands, this does the same as the headline and people read their favourite bands and people who see it will buy it as they are dedicated to them bands so they will buy it if it has their favourite band inside the issue or people will buy it as it has the same genre as their favourite band.

I used a barcode and a issue number and date. This is what the Kerrang magazine has as Kerrang sell a new issue each week so they keep track on what issue they are on and keeps the reader on how old the information is when they put the date on, this helps the reader as it tells information which could be pointless to know now but was valuable information when the issue was new.

The picture I have used in the magazine shows that it’s a music magazine by the instrument my star model is holding, the man on the main cover is on the double page spread as the main story as that is what the magazine is highlighting this week. My star model is doing a pose to represent a heavy metal band and the face expression helps that as the star model looks angry. The star model is facing the camera to bring in the reader.

Contents Page

Page 10: Evaluation 1 (a,b,c)

The header is inspired from a Kerrang magazine by the colours and structure of the title of the contents page.

The colours make the title stand out because no other piece on the page is the colour red so it makes the reader instantly see the title.

The background of the text is yellow and this makes the red stand out more to make the reader see it more as the rest of the page is the colours black and white.

The background I used the Photoshop paint tool where it makes it more interesting than just a blank black colour.

The pictures used shows other pictures of my star-models posing with their instruments on a stage and this will relate to the double page spread.

I used the same font for all but all different sizes this shows on matter of importance to the reader so those words attract the reader which will make them read more from that section of the contents page.

I did the structure like a Kerrang magazine and added all the usual stuff a music magazine would have. This would be “what’s in this weekly issue?” “What is our main story?” which contains all information from interviews and an extra piece of information which would attract the audience.

Most magazines have competitions to reel in the people who are interested in that guitar or the person who owns that guitar. People would buy the issue to sign up to the competition but on the contents page this is a small advertisement to tell you where it is.

Double Page Spread

Page 17: Evaluation 1 (a,b,c)

The header advertises the band that are being focused on the double page spread, if people see a band logo then they will want to read more about them if they are a fan of them. The second page on the double page spread has another title on the other page saying “So what’s new?” this is a rhetorical question which will bring in people’s attention.

Page 18: Evaluation 1 (a,b,c)

The Picture is the band performing I thought this would be a good shot seems it shows the band doing what they want and what they do best at.

The bottom section of the left page is an album review where I have tried to make it look like a Kerrang magazine as this is what Kerrang do with the picture and the rating but Kerrang use K’s instead of ratings (out of five).

The text I thought would be good and clear for the review section and I wanted it to look different compared to the page on the right. The first thing I tried to do is to make it look clear so everyone can read it.

Page 20: Evaluation 1 (a,b,c)

The title of the right page on the double page spread is the same font as the text below, but is put a rhetorical question to engage the reader about the band with “What’s New?” this makes people who want the next best thing interested.

The back ground of the right page I made it look much smudged.

Sections of both pages to give an effect which can be done on Photoshop tools.

I kept the black background as the picture if black so I wanted the picture and background give a blend effect.
