USING MEDIA FORMS AND CONVENTIONS An example of my media product following media conventions is in the use of darkening (and hiding) the faces in close ups and long shots to keep the element of mystery to their characters. This is an effect consistent to villains across other media products of my genre to keep the mystery of their characters throughout the films, from first appearance to when they come into the light.

My film also keeps to the 180 degree rule (except for a few seconds where the movement of the camera turns around to an area beyond the 180 degrees, making it 270 degrees). It keeps to this despite the camera moving the entire time. However, if each stopping point is seen as another scene then it keeps to the rule completely as even the point when the camera goes back on itself is seen to keep to the rule.

DEVELOPING MEDIA FORMS AND CONVENTIONS My product develops conventions in media with the 180 degree rule by the use of its POV shooting. The POV shooting crosses the barrier of the 180 degree rule because it allows the camera to go beyond the restrictions imposed by the rule. I know that it does this successfully because in the feedback from peers no body saw a fault in it, showing that this was a successful development of this particular convention in media.

CHALLENGING MEDIA FORMS AND CONVENTIONS My media product challenges conventions of real media products with its camera work, that it’s all shot in POV whereas a typical media product would use a variety of camera shots, angles and positions throughout the course of a film. This is something consistent with media products of a similar genre and products across the industry.
