I am now considering aiming my magazine at just females as they appear more interested in types of music I initially wanted to explore. I was surprised that so many people liked rock music but I feel that the small amount of females that like pop and R&B need to be acknowledged so I sent out 25 questionnaires to people in the 16-30 age range and collected their responses. This will help me discover if my target audience will actually be in interested in my magazine as well as thinking about changes I may have to make.

When asking about what type of music people enjoy aged 16-21the same amount of males and females said that they preferred rock. The highest genre for females was pop and for males it was other genres such as metal, electronic and rock ”n” roll. I am now considering aiming my magazine at just females as they appear more interested in types of music I initially wanted to explore.

I was surprised that so many people liked rock music but I feel that the small amount of females that like pop and R&B need to be acknowledged so there is a gap in the market for my magazine.

I sent out 25 questionnaires to people in the 16-30 age range and collected their responses. This will help me discover if my target audience will actually be in interested in my magazine as well as thinking about changes I may have to make.

As shown on the graph not many males ages 16-26 like to keep up with music charts where as quite a few females do. This makes me think that I would now like to change my target audience to females aged 16-25 as I feel that they would be most interested in the magazine I wan to produce.

The graph above shows the variety in the types of colours that males and females like. The favourite colour for males was blue and red and for females it was purple and red. If I end up doing a magazine based towards both then I will definitely use a red colour scheme.

The average price people were willing to pay was £1.50 -£2.00 and some said £2.50 or more. I am going to need to make sure that I have enough information and articles listed on the contents page to support the price making sure that its fair.

When asking about music magazines people read now

People in the 16-21 category brought up Kerrang a few times as well as Classic rock, total guitar and The rolling stones for the older members of the target audience.

I think that both magazine are quite interesting in how they are laid out to grab attention so this is something I may develop on.

Most people male and female either said that they liked the name “Tunedin” or that it was ok. No one said that they didn’t like it so I think that I will use that name for my actual magazine.
