In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Question 1: ContentsThis is the Final draft of my contents page. I based my contents page on a variety of different magazines. I pulled together a variety of ideas from different magazines to create my final page. I feel my contents page does challenge conventional magazines as the navigation for the magazine is at the bottom and so is the editors letter. However, I feel it works well.

I liked the idea of Billboards contents page as I liked the chart lay out down the side. I imitated this on my Contents page by creating the ‘Top 10 Downloads’ section. The songs I chose for this section was based on the genre of my magazine and what I think readers of my magazine would like.

For the rest of my contents page I tried following ideas from conventional magazines like Q. I felt my images worked best down the side rather than at the top. I decided to place my navigation at the bottom as I felt it would be too much writing if placed alongside my Top 10 Downloads. I feel my Contents page works well as a whole.

Question 1: Contents PageOverall I am pleased with my Contents page. However, it does challenge conventional magazines as magazine navigation is at the bottom rather than down the side. Although I feel it does work better along the bottom as it makes the page look less cluttered. I have also tried to use branding as much as I can which is a conventional method for magazines.
