Media Technologies used in the construction in my trailer and ancillary tasks

Page 2: Eval 4 construction

In the construction of both my trailer and ancillary tasks I used a variety of different media technologies which is evident throughout my blog. These include soundtrack pro, garage band, final cut express, photoshop and picaso. By using these technologies it made producing my products a lot easier and to give them a professional appearance.

Technologies and devices I used to obtain the footage and photos for my trailer and ancillary tasks:

Soundtrack pro and GaragebandOne of the problem I had to overcome

when constructing my trailer was I was unable to use copyright protected music and instead create my own for my trailer.

By using these programmes they allowed me to take loops and tracks and then edit them together to create the exact track I wanted to edit my trailer to.

These programmes where extrmely helpful as it meant I could easily construct my music to go with my trailer.

Final cut expressThis enabled me to easily import my

footage and then place it on the timeline, in the order which I thought worked best and then enable me to add different transitions and text onto my trailer.

Final cut Express had clear tab system allowing me to switch between different rough cuts and also easily insert transitions onto my timeline.

PicasoThis is a image manipulation

programme which specifically help me when constructing my film poster, as it enabled me to add a gray scale to a picture however allowed me to isolate one areas which I wanted to remain colour.

Therefore enabling the picture to represent the genre of the trailer a lot more.

PhotoshopTo construct both my film poster and

magazine front I used Photoshop, which enabled me to manipulate my photos, and add drop shadows to text.

Photoshop is a recognised programme used within the real world, however only for manipulating picture not for constructing complete film poster and magazine front covers, as programme which would have been more suited for this and what is widely used in the industry in InDesign, which if I had a richer skill base I would have used

Another device which was useful when constructing me ancillary tasks in particular was Google docs, which meant I could document the whole of the construction for both my magazine front cover and film poster on a PowerPoint then be able to easily upload it onto by blog in a PowerPoint format, the only problem with Google docs is that it has a memory limit of 1024 MB, which meant the PowerPoint for my film poster was too big and I therefore had to use another piece of file sharing software called Slideshare, as it allowed me to have a bigger memory to display and embed my PowerPoint.

A programme I could have used when constructing my trailer was Livetype, which enables you to create animated text. However I did not think it was appropriate for my trailer, as the text or effects would not be suitable for the genre of my trailer and therefore I believe would have ruined it.
