The Bureau “CERN” receives all inquiries which the European Organization for Nuclear Research sends to industrial companies of its member states.In case the Bureau “CERN” could find potential bidder(s) among the Bulgarian companies, it forwards these inquiries to them.It also consults the Bulgarian companies about the requirements and the inner rules of the CERN.
The Bureau “CERN” was established as a separate department at the INRNE BAS in 2000 to fulfill the functions of the ILO (Industrial Liaison Officer) according to the regulations of the CERN according to order of Ministry of Education, Youth and Science.

Recovering > 40% of membership fee of Bulgaria by participation in tenders and fulfilling of orders of CERN

An analysis of a set of 15 recent tenders organised fully in 2012 (MS, IT and tender procedure belong to 2012 – from March to July) shows the following (see table 2 below):Bulgaria is in a good position for selected and success rate vs consulted firms. More than, taking into account some tender procedures not finished till now (in such case there are 2 selected), Bulgaria is in a middle position among low group of countries with selected from 0 to 4 firms; the same are 6 other countries.

Background and Problems
The deceased academician Matey Mateev, one of the pioneers of scientific collaboration of Bulgaria and CERN, said in one of his recent interviews:
“My great dream is to see and to be the witness that Bulgarian teachers and scientists have the opportunity to work in a favorable and friendly environment, free from the everyday existence concerns. Only then I’ll could be feel secure about the future of my country and its daughters and sons.”
