Europe is a continent in the northern hemisphere.

It is separated from Asia by the Ural Mountains.To the south, it is separated from Africa by the Mediterranean Sea.To the west, there is the Athlantic Ocean.

European countries

There are 46 countries in Europe.

Some European countries in Europe are transcontinental - they are in two continentes: Europe and Asia-

The biggest country in Europe is Russia. The smallest is Vatican City.

PopulationThe population of Europe is about 800 million.

Europe is a heavily populated area because of its good climate, resources and economy.

About 65% of the population live in cities.

The five most populated European cities are: Moscow, London, Istanbul, Paris and Madrid.

LanguagesThere are about 40 important languages in Europe.

Some European languages are spoken in countries outside Europe:

English is spoken in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zeland...;

Spanish in Mexico, Central America and most South America;

Portuguese is spoken in Brazil; and

French in Canada and some African countries.
