What is the Eurotunnel ?

History of the Eurotunnel

• First idea was in 1802 as Frence Engineer.

• He told the idea to Napolion but becouse of the wars. Eurotunnel idea were a dream those years.

• In 1880 some private companies did excavation and when they were in 1800 meters. Eurotunnel excavation stopped becouse of English Goverment private security.

• The completed project was opened by Queen Elizabeth II and French President François Mitterrand on May 6 1994..

Features of the tunnel• Eurotunnel betwen Dover and Calais ( UK

and France)• Length of the tunnel 50,5 km and 38

km is under of the sea.• More than 13,000 workers from England

and France collaborating to realise the vision, the tunnel has been named one of the seven wonders of the modern world.
