Development of EuPA Basic CoursesDevelopment of EuPA Basic Courses

• The courses should be set up with the assistance of different experts in their application areas and technologies and afterwards these courses should be introduced in other European countries.

• Sharing the same Educational material is promoted and will be available on the EuPA web site.

The deadline for organizing and scheduling these courses for 2007 and 2008 is December 2006. The first program should start in March 2007.

EuPA Courses at Scientific MeetingsEuPA Courses at Scientific Meetings

The Education Committee has proposed a EuPA course before the 1st EuPA meeting that will be in Valencia, Spain (10-14th February, 2007)

HOW TO SHARE OUR RESULTS (P. James and G. Corthals)(1) Saving data in a common format, (2) Knowledge extraction & display from protein databases, (3) (open source) LIMS for Proteomics studies, (4) Integration of data from protein & metabolite or protein & microarrays studies, (5) Updates from PeptideAtlas, ProteinAtlas and the newly launched CellAtlas

project, (6) Quantitation from 2-DE and isotope labelling and (7) Validation of MS/MS data.http://eupa.isb-sib.chhttp://proteomics-valencia2007.ibv.csic.es

What is the Tutorial Program?

The tutorial program is aimed at providing enough material for a Masters level year long course. It consists of two parts:

1. Core techniques and basic conceptsThis is a series of initially 50 commissioned articles with an associated PowerPoint show to aid teaching of the basic concepts in Proteomics.

2. Applied ProteomicsThis a series of articles to illustrate the use of proteomics and to highlight specific areas

Page 18: EuPA- EC Education Committee (EC) 2006-2008 working plan.

Tutorial Articles

1. These are Peer-reviewed articles on the basic principles

underlying proteomics as well as examples of their use in

modern biological studies.

2. This format allows us to revisit and update methods and

procedures every two years.

3. They will be accompanied by graphic-orientated teaching

slides in PowerPoint format.

4. These will be made available for all and teachers will be

encouraged to download them and translate into the native

language of the country.

Page 19: EuPA- EC Education Committee (EC) 2006-2008 working plan.

How will it be implemented?

The peer reviewed tutorials will be published in the Journal of Proteome Research, Molecular and Cellular Proteomics and Proteomics.

The journals will invite the contributions and they will be peer-reviewed. The Powerpoint presentations will be evaluated by the Education committee.

The accompanying PowerPoint teaching aids will be made freely available from the Journals web-sites as well as the EuPA site.
