On April 23rd of this year, fans of T&T’s

arguably most successful movie ever (I’m Santana the Movie) had reason to get excited when produc-ers Lexo TV announced via face-book “I am Santana 2 is in the Pre Production stage.”

This was welcome news since roughly a month before that a similar social media message had put the production of the film in doubt. Executive Producer for all Lexo TV material Pantin, took to facebook to express displeasure with the support the project was receiving. The message stated that he had been trying to get the Trin-idad and Tobago Film Company (TTFC) to assist with the produc-tion to no avail. He revealed that all calls to the relevant figures at the TTFC had gone unanswered and it was becoming “very frustrat-ing”. Pantin brought to light the fact that the movie was one of the most successful local releases in history and deserved more respect and funding from the local enter-tainment fraternity (specifically the TTFC).

“This [is] the most popular pro-duction ever to come out of Trinidad and Tobago all from the pockets of Roger and I. Yet other movies are be-ing funded and not even the respect of a courtesy call back to us saying that they can’t help.”Pantin said in the

release. He then went as far as to urge

fans to call the film company on his behalf and he promised that the show would go into produc-tion regardless. Now, in mid June, the producers of the film are proud to boast that the production did indeed begin and the TTFC did eventually get on board albeit in a small capacity.

In an ET&T exclusive, Pantin revealed I’m Santana 2 has been given a tentative release date of December 26th 2013. “That is the release date we are aiming for. Of course it is a tentative date as we are

still in the process of the production of the film. We have some more shooting to do and then there is the editing and post production process to complete” said Pantin.

He added that though the film is still being produced indepen-dently, it will be bigger and better than the first. “We have some people on board, but the film is still and in-dependent project done by Roger and I (LEXO TV). It will feature more characters and there is a bigger budget behind it” revealed Pantin.

“Because of the success of the first movie we are now able to get into all local digital theatres. The movie will also be released simultaneously across the region with some great opportuni-ties in internationally as well.”

This presents itself as a great Christmas treat for fans of the LEXO TV series that developed its following on facebook and youtube. In the in-terim, there have been some recent additions to the short film series to hold fans over till the big release.

Most recently a short entitled Happy Birthday Charlene was released and is making its round on several social network-ing media. The video follows the very popular Hard Luck Narine which has received over 325,000 views on youtube since its release approximately three months ago.

Director Sean Hodgkinson’s debut film “A Story About

Wendy” has been accepted into the prestigious 16th annual Zan-zibar International Film Festival (ZIFF).

ZIFF is East Africa’s largest film, music and arts festival, which brings new talent to-gether from all over the world. Each year, some of the most captivating and cutting-edge cin-ema from Africa and beyond is screened in venues across the island. ZIFF is renowned for showcasing the highest quality film from all over the world. The festival kicks off on the 29th June and ends on July 7th.

A Story About Wendy stars Heidi Walcott, Catherine Em-manuel, Ayanna Cezanne, Ka-

risse Montano and Marcia Hen-ville. The film was a recipient of a PASD Grant from the Trini-dad and Tobago Film Company (TTFC) and tells the story of a young woman, whose life spirals out of control after her fiancé leaves. Forced to move back in with her parents, Wendy hopes that landing a job with famed TV presenter Simone Davies will help get her back on her feet. Simone, however, has other plans for Wendy.

Part 2 of A Story About Wendy is currently in post pro-duction and is scheduled to be released in late 2013. For more information and behind the scenes photos please visit htt-ps://www.facebook.com/asto-ryaboutwendy.

Thayo Ovid a.k.a. King Thayo has been making an indel-

ible mark on the hip hop music scene abroad for some time, yet he still remains largely unnoticed by people in his T&T homeland. The Arimian has been in the game since 2002 and has been a part of some stellar projects over that period thanks to his unique ‘Reg Hop’ sound and tremen-dous networking capacity. With-out a manager or agent Thayo has gotten placements on rid-dims featuring some of the big-gest names in reggae and dance-hall and he has shared stages with some of the best.

In fact, the currently Cali based Ovid is about to tour the US and will be sharing the stage with some of hip hop and reg-gae’s biggest names. The Dogg Pound will be at his next perfor-mance and he will perform with a gamut of stars leading up to his last performance date of the run

at Marylands’ Jerk Fest. There, Spragga Benz will be one of the additional acts.

Thayo is banking on solid performances to help promote his upcoming mixtape and EP releases. He says the EP will be double sided so as to feature both of his signature styles (reggae and hip hop). He has been working with several artistes and produc-ers internationally including Grammy nominated producer Mike Donaldson.

Currently, the King has a video out for a track entitled “Go Get It.” The song has hit number 4 on the reverb Nation chart for the entire state of California. He is also lining up a big summer re-lease called ‘Party Start’ which he hopes will be accepted in Trini-dad and Tobago as well.

For now, Thayo just wants to let people know that he is work-ing extremely hard to represent Trinidad overseas and he encour-ages people to get familiar with him as an online presence. His site www.kingthayo.com, twitter handle twittler@kingthayo or search for him on his youtube channel and itunes network to get to know this rising under-ground star.

The 2013 Dutch St. Maarten Carnival experience drew

countless festival fans to the North Eastern Caribbean desti-nation.

This year’s edition was noth-ing short of vibrant with colour-ful parades, an onslaught of lo-cal cultural shows, pageants and international concerts which fea-tured top rate entertainers from the Caribbean, North and Latin America.

This annual Carnival has been the island’s largest cultural event for the past 43 years and is organized by the St. Maarten Car-nival Development Foundation (SCDF).

The capital city of Phillips-burg, was the site of the main ac-tivity as hordes of festival newbies and Carnival veterans converged day and night in the major action hub known as the “Carnival Vil-lage”.

In addition to a wide array of local and international cuisine

(representing the island’s many cultural and culinary influences) the St. Maarten Carnival Village, was the literal hotspot for all the major concerts and pageants dur-ing the Carnival period. These concerts showcased practically every musical genre inclusive of Soca, Latin, Zouk, Reggae, Dancehall, R&B and Hip-Hop.

Gracing this year’s St. Maarten Carnival stage were perform-ers the likes of R&B heartthrob

Miguel, rapper Busta Rhymes, Latin star Daddy Yankee, Jamai-can sensations Busy Signal and Konshens, Soca stars Nadia Bat-son and Tallpree and Dancehall Queen Lady Saw.

The most anticipated inter-national performer for the 2013 St. Maarten Carnival season was none other than son of the leg-endary Bob Marley, Damian ‘Jun-ior Gong’ Marley. Marley had the entire festival village crowd in

the palm of his hands as he car-ried the eager audience through his catalogue of hit songs e.g. ‘Affairs of the Heart’, ‘Road to Zion’, ‘Beautiful’, ‘In too Deep’ and the ever popular ‘Welcome to Jamrock’.

In the weeks leading up to the Carnival visitors to the vil-lage also had opportunities to en-joy other forms of entertainment such as Calypso Competitions, Youth and Teen Extravaganzas, Speech and Culture Wear Com-petitions and several Queen Pag-eants.

Also notable at this year’s St. Maarten Carnival celebrations was the well attended J’ouvert festivities which set the pace for 2 days of exciting costumed revelry.

As per tradition, the end of St. Maarten’s Carnival is marked with the symbolic burning of King Moumou, a straw-stuffed effigy who annually presides over the whole festive affair. Cour-tesy Sonique Solutions

The line allegedly owes wholesale company iSource NYC nearly $500,000 for garments made in Pakistan and shipped to New York in 2012, according to a lawsuit filed in the Manhattan Supreme Court, as per the Post.

The suit says the items shipped to New York were “were specially ordered goods...[with] the ‘Rocawear’ brand name imprinted on [them],” according to the suit. “Defendant never returned the ROC goods to iSource.” According to the Post's article, Rocawear paid for ap-proximately half of the $1 million shipment. iSource is seeking the balance owed, as well as 9 percent interest. The bill was due in 2012.

Name: Shania Korina Perez Age: 14height: 5’3hometown: CarenageAt the tender age of 14 this local model is one growth spurt away from being the next big thing. Usually models in Trinidad and Tobago start their careers way too late, but Perez seems to have understood her potential. “This is when models usually start, so this is a good age for me to explore the opportunities” says Shania.

This follows the vein of many of the greats including her idol Tyra Banks who she credits with changing many lives. No doubt she would have made impacts on the lives of others as well. Perez is a stand up figure who admonishes bullying and racism. What she does like is music, reading, wildlife, movies and socializing with close friends and family.

However, her main pas-sion is fashion and though she has not worked with many designers yet, she has been requested and used by several photographers including Keiron Greaves, Eustace Dyer and Ian Davis.

Look out for this young model as she continues to rise through the ranks.

Achieving the right body can seem like quite an undertak-

ing for those who don’t regularly work out… or as Bane prefers to call them “The uninitiated.” How-ever, a few simple tips can go a long way toward carrying you in the right direction.

The first tip should not be overlooked especially if you're first getting started, This tip is finding professional help. It is suggested that you have a professional assess-ment to determine what types of exercise you need most. For some people, attention to flexibility or to balance and agility may be more important than resistance training or aerobics. By getting a profes-sional assessment, you can deter-mine your weakest links and focus on them. This will improve your overall fitness balance. Plus, it can help you hone in on the proper

ways to do exercise without injur-ing yourself.

Working out while you have the most energy will yield the best results. Therefore, it is important to watch your body clock. Figure out which time best suits you. If you're a morning person, schedule your fitness activities early in the day; if you perk up as the day goes

along; plan your activities in the afternoon or evening.

Another great tip to maximize your results is to chart your pro-gress. Stay motivated using a fit-ness report card. Jot down these subjects: Cardio, Muscle Condi-tioning, Flexibility and Attitude. Set goals (for example, doing 10 "boy" push-ups) and grade yourself A through F at least four times a year. When you see how much you improve, you'll want to stay in great shape.

Similarly, you should focus on setting proper goals. Set exercise goals you can meet. Otherwise, you'll stop working out all togeth-er. Try to work out on two week-days and one weekend day for 30 minutes to start. If you can only do 20, that's okay too. The point is to get moving and keep moving.

Variety is a must. It is impor-

tant to keep switching up your routines in order to achieve the best results. A change of scenery can add value to your exercise rou-tine so head outside. Going to the gym day after day can start to feel monotonous, and the last thing you want is to dread your work-outs. Instead, get some fresh air with a walk, run or bike ride.

While maintaining a proper diet is not actually a workout plan, it should be stated that the right nutrition is imperative to your results. If there is one thing to take from your diet is the fact that you should not eliminate car-bohydrates. Your body needs them for energy. If you need added en-ergy for a workout, eat some carbs about an hour before. Your best bets are low fat cheese with crack-ers, trail mix, or a half a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Even if your goal is getting your weight down, you will need those carbs to help you build energy and burn.

Humans love to receive some sort of reciprocity for their hard work. The gym bag isn’t going to get up and pat you on the shoul-der, so reward yourself! Give yourself a massage when you reach your goals, or maybe some new workout clothes. While the results might be enough of a reward for some, others need a little more. Nothing is wrong with that as long as it motivates you.

An often overlooked issue when it comes to getting yourself gym ready is to make sure and cre-ate a healthy environment around you. Clean up your fridge of "pro-hibited" foods and stuff it with fruits, vegetables, and yogurts! Stop smoking, or hanging out in places where a lot of people smoke. Ask your spouse or signifi-cant other to smoke outside - or preferably not at all! It's healthy for both of you. Don't drink too much, and don't sleep too little. Fitness is not just about working out; it's about living healthy, in a healthy environment.

Remember parties at the Anchorage? well that venue recent-ly became relevant again when some enterprising promoters

hosted the party entitled ‘CuPS there. while it wasn’t a ram cram type of atmosphere, there was a good girl to guy ratio and the ambiance was nice. et&t was everywhere over the long holiday weekend and this Anchorage shindig was one we didn’t neglect.

events extraJune 2nd was the date for this year’s version of the popu-

lar annual sports entertainment fixture known as Red Run. the event took place at the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port-of-Spain and drew a large number of supporters of the Red 96.7fm family. Because it was a radio station’s fun

day, there were numerous celebrity sightings on hand. et&t was there for the action and we have the pics to prove it. Check our facebook page for more.

last week we spoke about it and this week we’re doing it again… Ratchet weaves and hair colours need to stop. All the effort you took in matching the hair dye with your outfit is for naught.

At first glance, you might think we are highlighting the oversized white eyewear worn by the dude in the back. however, there are graver issues at hand with the guy on the far right of the pic. he is wearing a printed jersey under his printed polo and that is a no-no. his choice of accessory is also off. the red watch doesn’t go with anything else in his ensemble. Maybe he thought it was matching his pur-ple tie-dyed jersey that also has stripes and print.

While some people make the most of their clothing and pro-duce wonderful results, others seem to descend into a depth

of fashion darkness that is really hard to shine light on. Put simply, these people need to get a grip. If they don’t soon, the Fashion Police will and we won’t let go until their sentence is served.

Name: Nelson Rolihlahla Man-delaAge: 94 (18th July 1918) Claim to fame: Nelson Man-dela spent 27 years as a political prisoner in South Africa before becoming in a remarkable twist, the country's first black president. Nelson Mandela was a leading member of the African National Congress (ANC), which opposed South Africa's white minority gov-

ernment and its policy of racial separation, known as apartheid. The government outlawed the ANC in 1960. Mandela was cap-tured and jailed in 1962, and in 1964 he was convicted of treason and sentenced to life in prison. He began serving the sentence as prisoner 46664 on Robben Island, near Cape Town, but instead of disappearing from view, Mandela became a prison-bound martyr

and worldwide symbol of resist-ance to racism. South African President F.W. de Klerk finally lifted the ban on the ANC and released Mandela in 1990. Nelson Mandela used his stature to help dismantle apartheid and form a new multi-racial democracy, and he and de Klerk shared the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993. Mandela was elected the country's president in 1994. He served until 1999, when he was succeeded by his deputy Thabo Mbeki. Nelson Mandela's autobiography, Long Walk to Free-dom, was published in 1994.

Mandela has been married

three times: to the former Evelyn Mase from 1944 to 1957, to Win-nie Madikizela from 1958 to 1996, and to Graca Machel since 1998... Nelson Mandela's wife Winnie be-came a powerful figure in her own right while Mandela was impris-oned; however, her entanglement in a series of scandals led to the couple's estrangement in 1992, her dismissal from his cabinet in 1995, and their official divorce in 1996... He has been played in the movies by Morgan Freeman (Invic-tus, 2009), Sidney Poitier(Mandela and de Klerk, 1997), and Danny Glover (Mandela, 1987).

DianaThe first film is a biographical drama. Naomi Watts stars in the eagerly anticipated movie about the beloved Princess Diana. It focuses on the last two years of Princess Diana's life: her campaign against land mines and her relationship with surgeon Dr. Hasnat Khan. This movie comes 16 years after the Princess’ tragic death.

the hobbit: the Desolation of SmaugA big budget Sci-Fi adventure is the second movie on the list. In the second installment of the trilogy, the Dwarves, Bilbo and Gandalf have successfully escaped the Misty Mountains, and Bilbo has gained the One Ring. They all continue their journey to get their gold back from the Dragon, Smaug.

white house DownFinally, we look at the Jamie Foxx and Channing Tatum led action flick, White House Down. It centers on a policeman, who while on a tour of the White House with his young daughter, has to spring into action to save his child and protect the president from a heavily armed group of paramilitary invaders.
