the Trident UNITED STATES NAVAL ACADEMY TOP STORIES JULY 13, 2012 IRISH OFFICIALS SALUTE U.S. NAVAL ACADEMY The ambassador of Ireland to the U.S. held an evening reception July 5 in Washington, D.C., to wish the Naval Academy football team luck as they prepare to play the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Sept. 1 in Dublin, Ireland. Michael Collins hosted Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus, Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jonathan Greenert, Naval Academy Superintendent Vice Adm. Michael Miller and more than 100 guests at the evening’s event. Billed as the “Emerald Isle Classic,” the game will be the first played between Navy and Notre Dame in Ireland since 1996, and will showcase one of the finest sporting traditions in American college football. MONTHLY YARD SALEThe next MWR Annapolis yard sale will take place July 14 in the parking lot of the Navy Exchange from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost for table or space is $10. CHILDREN’S THEATERMWR will host the Missoula Children’s Theatre from July 23-27. Auditions for “Blackbeard the Pirate” will be held July 23 from 10 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the MWR Theater in Bldg. #89. Children in kindergarten and up to age 17 are eligible to audition. The production will be performed in the theater July 27 at 3 p.m. Admission is free. For details, call 410-293-9396.

NIGHT AT THE BAYSOXThe 13th annual “Navy Night at the Baysox” will be held Aug. 3 at 7:05 p.m. when the Bowie Baysox take on the Trenton Thunder at Prince George’s Stadium, Routes 50 and 301 in Bowie, Md. Gates open at 6:05 p.m. Free tickets will be available to DoD-affiliated personnel starting July 9 at the Information, Tickets and Travel Outlet at NSA Annapolis. Please present proper ID when picking up tickets.
