OPK - Oil Spill Protection Kit Spills can happen in the open sea, close to shores, or in lakes, streams and rivers.

How the spill is cleaned up depends on where it happened.

One cc. of petrochemicals can contaminate 106 cc of water, so oil spills require an immediate response.

When oil enters the ocean it quickly begins to change and disperse. It is a global environmental problem, specially to countries with coastline like Portugal.

The OPK, consists in four flutuable boxes with chemical agent and a sensor based monitoring system.

Activation System Unit - Main Control Box, 2 inclinometer sensors, 6 impact sensors

Floating Device - Four flutuable containers with chemical agent (FOA)

FOA - floating oil agglomerating agent

The four containers will be applied around the main vessel as seen in diagram 1.
