Goal and Plan of ActionTo integrate a system of components to

develop a fully functional liquid filling machine

Calculate the amount of torque and power needed to operate the system

Specify dimensions of systemSpecify parts and materialsEstimate costs

Filling SystemThe filler's Arduino independently controls

the valve near the base of the tank so that it knows precisely how much product has been delivered. When the target fill volume is reached, the nozzle is instantly shut off, resulting in high accuracy fills.

Conveyor System

•Straight-running conveyor chain belt•6”* 1(5/8)”*(5/32”)•No gaps in links•Chain driven

•Belt tensioner and bearing•Mounted to side of conveyor •Pulley system used to apply tension to the conveyor

Calculation Methods Force = µ*g*(max load) = 0.33*9.81*(2612) = 8455.83N

Shaft Load = 12N

Power = ≈ 8,455kW

Motor Power Required = Pm= = 10.56kW or higher

Tank Volume = = cylinder + cone = 1674.66+2512cubic-inches*0.00432900433 = 8.124gallons

Elongation (while operating) = 𝜀= 𝐹𝑢2 +2∗𝐹22∗𝑆𝐷∗𝑏0 =

Minimum elongation = 𝜀= 𝐹𝑢2 +𝐶1−𝑘𝑆𝐷∗𝑏0 =

Effective Pull of Conveyor = 𝐹𝑢 = µ𝑇∗𝑔ቀ𝑚+ 𝑚𝑏2 ቁ+ 𝜇𝑟 ∗𝑔(𝑢𝑏2 + 𝑚𝑟)

= 8455.83 N

Max Pull of Conveyor = 𝐹1 = 𝐹𝑢 ∗𝑐1

Torque = T = F(R+L) =

Fully loaded with 23 bottles side by side = 23.69lbs*(.02413m+.1524m) = 4.1819N/m

Loaded with 11 bottles spaced 3 inches apart = 11.33lbs*(.02413m+.1524m) = 2.000N/m
