ESTABLISHES A BASELINE FOR COMPETENCY, BUSINESS PRACTICES, AND
INDUSTRY-ACCEPTED GUIDELINES FOR GLAZING CONTRACTORS
QUALITY MANAGEMENT
A Quality Management System (QMS) is the cornerstone of the NACC Certification, providing a multi-faceted control that benefits contractors while ensuring quality of business practices and craftsmanship. NACC requires that the following eight QMS items are in place:
Operational Procedures
Annual Internal Reviews
Quality Manual
Equipment Maintenance andAccuracy Reporting
Procedures for HandlingCustomer Feedback
QMS Document Control
Record Retention Policy
Corrective Action and Preventive Action for Nonconformities Affecting Quality
“NACC truly has made us a better company. It sets us apart and has made us best in class. We feel more confident in the way we’re providing clients with a complete package by being certified.” - Mike Gilbert, President, Empirehouse, Inc.
“NACC works. It makes you that much better and more aware of how each department is running. It helped us straighten out, clean up, and fine tune the machine.”
- Peter Neudorf, Jr., Director of Field Operations, Ferguson Neudorf Glass, Inc.
Following evaluation, companies are provided time to update
their systems and processes to meet the requirements of the
NACC Procedural Guide. Companies demonstrate continued
compliance through annual recertification assessments.
BENEFITS TO THE INDUSTRY
Efficient and professional installation of glazing products is
crucial in today’s very competitive construction environment.
Every stakeholder in the supply chain benefits from
competency. The NACC program recognizes the companies
that utilize industry best practices for installation, giving
peace of mind to building owners, design professionals, and
general contractors. Since its launch in July 2015, NACC has
gained industry acceptance and recognition for raising the bar
of quality and professionalism.
BENEFITS TO THE CONTRACTOR
Certification allows glazing contractors to demonstrate -
through an independent, ANSI accredited third party and
documented evidence - that they have taken the right steps
to deliver the best possible quality and safety to their clients.
“As a specifier, installer certification is important to me because it offers independent verification of minimum, industry-accepted qualifications necessary to complete a specific type of work. Certification replaces all the subjective criteria normally specified to ensure qualified installers are bidding.”
- David Stutzman, President, Conspectus, Inc.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The North American Contractor Certification (NACC) Program recognizes architectural glass and metal contractors that consistently demonstrate quality and safety excellence. The program offers a third-party endorsement of companies having completed a significant and time-intensive evaluation process establishing a baseline for competency, business practices, and adherence to industry-accepted guidelines.
CERTIFICATION PROCESS
Applicants first complete an online application and consent
to the program’s license agreement. Following submission of
various documents, the applicant company undergoes an on-
site, multi-day evaluation of its adherence to industry identified
best practices and program requirements. The assessment is
based on proficiency in five areas:
“Certification points out weaknesses most of us fail to realize we have. The process helps companies better understand where money might be walking out the door.”
- Dale Fuhr, Associate PrincipalWiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc.

NACC PROGRAMDEVELOPMENT & ADMINISTRATION
The NACC Certification Program was developed with input from
architects, engineers, general contractors, glazing contractors,
consultants, specifications specialists, and glass industry
manufacturers and suppliers. All aspects of the program are
managed and administered by an independent third-party
organization. The NACC program is governed by a committee
comprised of the same cross-section of industry experts and
stakeholders that helped develop it. The program is sponsored
by the Architectural Glass and Metal Certification Council
(AGMCC), a 501(c)3 not-for-profit, public benefit organization.
ACCREDITATION
The NACC Certification Program
has achieved ANSI accreditation
to the ISO/IEC 17065 standard.
Accreditation to this standard
assures applicant and licensee
companies and stakeholders that
the program requirements are relevant and that assessments
are consistently and fairly administered.
CERTIFICATION FOR GLAZIERS
In addition to the NACC Certification, AGMCC also sponsors
certification of glazing technicians. The Architectural Glass and
Metal Technician (AGMT) Certification Program is the industry’s
only independent, third-party, ANSI-accredited assessment of
a glazier’s fundamental knowledge, skills, and abilities through
a rigorous evaluation process that includes a knowledge-based
(written) and performance-based (physical) tests.

“In the past, we focused on quality control at the end of the process to make sure the client’s specifications
were met. We spent significant resources fixing problems that
could have been avoided. Now we put more emphasis on quality
assurance throughout the process to prevent problems from occurring
in the first place.”
