What is known, is that over 300 Townhouse Units have been added or are currently under construction in the western corridor of the Village in the past two years. A further 375 units are either approved or under consideration for vacant land along Kinsellas Road West or Lamington Road. A Moreton Bay Regional Council Spokesperson has advised the Progress Association that “A decision on what Agency (Developer or Council) will construct this connection remains under consideration.” The Progress Association remains in contact with Officers of Council and the Developer, Philip Usher Constructions and will update the community when a decision is made. This connection will also cater for the proposed 233 Household Development by the Philip Usher Constructions along Lamington Road. Traffic Safety Concerns for Village Roundabout Drivers along Kinsellas Road West are urged to slow down as they approach the two (2) closely located Roundabouts on Kinsellas Road West. Residents are advised that Traffic Police have been actively monitoring Kinsellas Road West in recent weeks. Drivers are urged to give more consideration to their fellow drivers when accessing roundabouts by: 1. Slowing down as they approach Roundabouts 2. Giving plenty of warning by use of “Indicators” as they approach each roundabout. At its February meeting on Wednesday night, the Association will consider a range of recommendations on Speed Zones for Village Streets and Kinsellas Road West that will be forwarded to State and Local Governments.

(From Aline)

We have been living in Mango Hill for just over 3 years now and we are enjoying the great country vibe around the area. It is great to have community Centre very close to our place that it worked out so well for us to be able to get married just 200 meters away from home. The facilities and all the amenities are so helpful to the neighbourhood. We really had a wonderful and memorable wedding that we can treasure forever. Mr. & Mrs. CLINCE

Since 1986, the Progress Association has operated with the core aim of “seeking to enhance the quality of life” for the Residents of our Community” through the broad principles of “God Helps those who Help Themselves” and “Maintaining Eternal Vigilance”. During that time our Association has sought to work with other community

organizations and advocate to all levels of Government and Business. In short, our Association can only be as effective as the range of committed volunteers who can provide time, effort and ideas to continue our work of the past 33 years.

Some Goals (amongst others that arise) for Mango Hill Progress Association in 2019: (You can add others)

• Maintaining a keen interest in the ever-changing landscape of an expanding Mango Hill community.

• Following up on a Management Plan for Halpine Lake - (see comment from Councillor Julie Greer)

• Connections of Lamington Road to Anzac Ave (opposite Capestone Blvd)

• Road Safety issues in local suburbs (where they arise) – Traffic speed and safety of Residents

• Encouraging greater use of Public Transport linkages to coordinate

• Continuing our social program of “Skate Nights” (Family nights) each term at the Mango Hill Community Centre.

• Continuing to operate the Mango Hill Community Centre on behalf of Moreton Bay Regional Council.

All residents are welcome to attend the monthly meeting of the Association on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at the Mango Hill Community Centre at 7.30pm.

2019 will be another important year for our local community in Mango Hill and North Lakes. Construction will commence for the new Mango Hill High School, and we are expecting the first students to walk into their classrooms in

2020. And that is only part of the investments in education by the Palaszczuk Government in 2019. The new $15 million multi storey block at North Lakes State College is ready to go, and we have finished eight new classrooms at Bounty Boulevard State School.

I have been pushing for more officers to be stationed at the Mango Hill / North Lakes Police Station, and I greatly appreciate the backing I have got from the MHPA and local residents.

There will be more roads projects to get started, such as the Anzac Ave and Capestone Boulevard intersection upgrade, so I will keep on working with the MHPA in 2019.

Let me know if there’s anything else I can do to assist.

Chris Whiting MP - Member for Bancroft P: 07 3448-2100 | E: [email protected] 743 Deception Bay Road, ROTHWELL (The Zone)

Welcome to 2019.

I hope everyone enjoyed their festive break. It’s a hot start to the New Year and I am looking forward to working closely with the Mango Hill Progress Association and the local community

to keep our community safe and happy. Once again “we’ve got our pedal to the metal this year”, working on a range of projects for our local community.

• Some exciting projects happening in Mango Hill

include the next stage of the road and drainage

upgrade at Alice Street - detailed design to

commence soon.

• Council will also commence detailed design for

lake rectification works at Halpine Lake this

year.

• Detailed design is also underway for a new

300metre concrete footpath between Mango

Hill Station and Jasper Place.

Julie Greer - Councillor for Division 4 (Moreton Bay Regional Council)

Greater Speeds allow Progress Association Admin to Operate!

For nearly 400 homes in the Old Mango Hill Village, the NBN became active in early February 2018, greatly increasing the capacity of households to either gain access to the internet in the first place or to access faster connections.

Since 2009, the Progress Association actively advocated for the NBN (or its predecessor) to be connected to the Village. It took time. Yes, our Politicians are often criticised for in-action. In this case, it is “Well done to our Federal Member, Luke Howarth and NBN General Manager, Ryan Williams” (who spoke at our November 2012 meeting) for delivering this promise. It should be noted that many areas are still awaiting connection to the NBN. Mango Hill is well ahead of many of the “more established” areas of Brisbane. Hopefully, your experience with the NBN has been positive. Note: Later in the 2019, (or 18 months after the NBN has been connected to households, many of the older “Landline” connections may be under review as the “digital” age approaches.
