17 provinces.

Agriculture has long been

the lifeblood of this

region with principal crops,

in terms of area planted and production

value, being rice, sugar cane, corn, tobacco ,

soybeans,vegetables and fruits.Several temperate

fruit crops including apples, peaches, and successfully

grown in the Northern region.

The industrial activities in the region are steadily

growing with government’s facility supports

( e.g. northern industrialestate in Lumpoon ) focusing

production in many sectors,such as handicrafts,

cerai with Myanmar, under GMS BIMSTEC, and

East-West-west Economic Corridor (EWEC) framework

both countries could gain mutualeconomic growth

and better livelihood for people in this region.
