ESSMANN fall-through protection
For accident prevention on accessible
flat roofs. Installation underneath the
skylight dome upstand (does not affect
opening and closing).
The fall-through protection is available
for installation together with the upstand
or for optional upgrading.
ESSMANN intruder and fall-trough
protection
For rooms requiring particular protection:
galvanized, edged steel frame, available
in different heights according to the heat
insulation thickness. Solid steel bars are
inserted into the steel frame at regular
intervals.
ESSMANN repair set
Consists of a skylight dome and a safety
frame to replace a damaged skylight
dome. The safety frame is mounted to
the installed upstand.
ESSMANN refurbishment set
for ventable skylight domes
The set consists of the skylight dome,
the safety frame and the refurbishment
upstand. It is particular suitable for flat
roof renovation, when the existing up-
stand is too low to comply with flat roof
directives after the installation of additio-
nal heat insulation, for example, or if a
skylight dome should subsequently be
upgraded for smoke and heat extraction.
The 15 cm-high refurbishment upstand is
mounted to the existing upstand and fit-
ted with hinges that provide for the easy
installation of an ESSMANN skylight dome.

ESSMANN round skylight dome
Round skylight dome for special architec-
tural solutions: The plastic glazing is
screwed to the GRP upstand (available
total heights: 15, 30 or 50 cm). If the round
skylight dome is also to provide venting,
the kerb of the plastic glazing will be exe-
cuted as venting frame made from GRP.
ESSMANN pyramid-shaped skylight dome
The pyramid-shaped skylight dome is fitted
with plastic glazing moulded from a single
piece and sloped by 30°, thus dispensing
with irritating profiles. The venting frame
made from rigid PVC is prepared for daily
ventilation.

The high-quality plastic glazing with opal
tint is installed in a stable kerb frame in
the standard version. The weatherdrip
design of the edges provides for weather
protection. The skylight dome should
always be installed in combination with
the corresponding upstand. ESSMANN
skylight domes are available in classic,
plus and comfort plus versions.
ESSMANN skylight dome actuator sets
All ESSMANN skylight domes are prepared for the installation of actuator and/or
ventilation sets at the factory. Various models are available according to the intended
use or the desired convenience level.
ESSMANN speciality: Arcade rooflights.
ESSMANN arcade rooflights are used mainly for the flat roofs of industrial buildings,
warehouses, workshops, supermarkets and other large commercial and administrative
buildings. They are composed of high-quality extruded aluminium sections and are
available as arcade rooflights or saddle arcade rooflights with a slope of 30° or 45°.
The glazing is made of cold-shaped, multi-wall sheets in accordance with European
fire protection directives.
The particular ventilation and smoke and heat flaps for ESSMANN arcade rooflights
consist of a welded aluminium framing structure with a maximum width of 250 cm.

Arcade rooflight prepared for installation
in an ESSMANN base or a base by
customer. Outer sheet sealing with PDM
lipping in the area of the almuminium
sections. The exterior screws and con-
soles are made of V2A stainless steel.

The ESSMANN arcade rooflight flap
consists of an aluminium framing struc-
ture with welded edge connections and
a polycarbonate glazing. The specified
flap size refers to the grid of 1.06 m and

The surface-mounted ESSMANN base
consists of multiple-edged, sendzimized
sheet steel with a thickness of 2 mm
suitable for upright installation. The total
height is between 30 and 38 cm respec-
tively 45 and 53 cm. The base is delivered
with tension and spacer bars that comply
with static requirements and facilitate the
installation.
The self-supporting ESSMANN base
consists of multiple-edged, sendzimized
sheet steel with a thickness of 2 or 3 mm
suitable for upright installation. The total
height is between 30 and 38 cm with a
truss spacing of 4 m and between 45 and
58 cm with a truss spacing of 8 m. The
max. span width amounts to 8 m.
Bases produced by customers
may consist of various materials that
should be suitable for the installation of
the arcade rooflight base section. All for-
ces must be absorbed by the base and/
or the corresponding tension bars.

ESSMANN speciality: Saddle arcade rooflights.
Saddle arcade rooflight ventilation flap
suitable for daily ventilation and indispen-
sable for pleasant room air conditions.
The smoke and heat flap for saddle arca-
de rooflights ensures smoke and heat
extraction in the event of a fire. It is also
suitable for daily ventilation in combina-
tion with a motorized actuator.
ESSMANN saddle arcade rooflight for new construc-tion and refurbishment
ESSMANN saddle arcade rooflights are
available with inclinations of 30° (type
940/20) and 45° (type 940/21) and are
prepared for installation in an ESSMANN
base or a base by customer.
The exterior glazing gasket is available in
every width (in centimetres) between
100 and 500 cm and freely selectable
lengths.
The bearing structure consists of
extruded aluminium sections. The rails
are arranged in accordance with the grid
size (1,060 mm as a standard). The
standard glazing is available with a
thickness of 10 mm for span widths up
to 3 m or of 16 mm for span widths of
3.10 m and more. It consists of opal-
tinted polycarbonate double-wall sheets.
Louvre vents for smoke and heat extrac-
tion and/or ventilation purposes can
easily be integrated into the saddle arca-
de rooflight structure.

ESSMANN offers various systems for
effective and economic ventilation. The
ventilation flaps for skylight domes and
arcade rooflights are available as louvre
vents, double flaps and large-surface
vents. The natural, i.e. thermal ventilation
is based on the physical principle that
warm and used-up air rises to the ceiling
where it is let out into the open by the
ventilation equipment. Permanent venti-
lation is independent of weather condi-
tions, as the devices can be fitted optio-
nally with all-season features. The inner
weathering flaps provide for ventilation
when it rains or snows. The actuators
are available with pneumatic or electric
drives (24 V or 230 V), the control is en-
sured via a ventilation terminal box.
Like the ESSMANN skylight domes and
arcade rooflights, the ventilation units
are also manufactured from tried and
tested durable material: extruded alumi-
nium sections and polycarbonate sheets
or stainless steel.

The ideal solution for draughtless, steady
and noiseless air distribution. The air
manifold system ensures pleasant room
air conditioning at air outlet speeds
below 0.2 m/s. Further advantages: the
system is virtually non-flammable, it

ESSMANN ventilation system
The ESSMANN ventilation system is an
air exhaust and supply unit providing for
mechanical ventilation. The system is
suitable for roof mounting or integration
into ESSMANN arcade roof-lights. It is
structured in individual modules (mixing
chamber, filter chamber, damper register
etc.), which can freely be combined.
Units for exterior use are also available
as weatherproof versions.
ESSMANN roof ventilator
Roof ventilators extract the used air and
provide for the supply of fresh air at the
same time.
ESSMANN offers numerous versions
for wall and roof mounting which also
convince through their appealing look.
Fans with a duct system, automatic
sealing flaps or sound insulation as well
as versions suitable for integration into
arcade rooflights are optionally available.
In multi-storey buildings with a higher
penetration depth or buildings with
higher requirements concerning air
conditioning, effective ventilation can
only be realized with fans.
For mechanical ventilation, it is particular-
ly important to assess the actually requi-
red air volumes accurately. The task is to
supply the appropriate air volume exactly
to the place where it is needed. This is
the only way to keep energy costs as
low as possible.

All ESSMANN skylight domes, arcade
rooflights, finned ventilators and double
flap systems are suitable for the installa-
tion of a comprehensive smoke and heat
extraction system for natural smoke re-
moval. In principle, these systems con-
sist of an actuator set for the flaps to be
opened, a control system and a release
mechanism (CO2 or electric impulse).
In multi-storey buildings, it is impossible
in most cases to extract smoke thermally
in the event of a fire.
For these buildings, ESSMANN designs
solutions based on mechanical smoke
extraction with fire gas fans that are
suitable for roof and wall mounting.
Metal duct systems supplement the
full-scale protection provided by mechan-
ical smoke and heat extraction.
The electronic control system plays an
important role in natural and mechanical
smoke extraction. The facilities for early
fire detection and alarm as well as the

ESSMANN refurbishment gully 2The refurbishment gully 2 consists of a verti-cal basic body, which is inserted into the ex-isting gully and sealed with the enclosedlipping. The body and flanges of the gullyare designed for the direct and homogenous connection to the surrounding weathering sheet.
ESSMANN overflow gullySuitable for emergency drainage of flat roofs, i.e. if extraordinary rainfall must be expected. The overflow gully is suitable for installation in roof parapets or balustrades in addition to the interior drainage system. It is designed as an emergency gully for water volumes that can-not be handled by the existing drainagesystems.
ESSMANN spout gullySpout gullys are suitable for lateral drainage and have proven their worth in practice par-ticularly where drainage of enclosed small roof areas (such as balconies or terraces) is concerned. Interior down pipes can be dis-pensed with in this drainage system.
